Rebels open their basketball
season Tuesday night here
against Albemarle.
Coach Bob Henry said his
starting line-up, based on prac
tices through the first of this
week, will be:

The second units probably will
include Eddie Jones and Steve
Beck at forwards, Doug Chap- "

Peoples and Tony Seaford at
guards.
The Rebels had a fine 14-6
season last year with Shoaf and
Ijames averaging 9.6 points
each. High scoring Freddie
Bailey had graduated.
Janice Markland will pace the
Davie girls again this season.
She averaged 12.1 points a
game and led the Rebelettes
into the finals of the North
Piedmont Conference playoffs.
Erwin Mills No. 1 defeated
Cart ex Mills, 4-0, to take over
first place in the Bowlettes
League last week. Pat Jordan
paced Erwin with a 491 set
while Barbara Dunn had the
high game of 180.

Cooleemee defeated West
Rowan, 9-0, Saturday night to
win third place in the Little
League Play-offs.
Quarterback Billy Wall hit
Billy Ijames with a 10-yard
scoring toss for the only TD
of the game. Sid Mail ran for
the extra point.
The team added a safety to
run the margin to nine points.
Kenny Durham made a tackle
in the end zone for the safety.
In the championship games,
East Rowan trounced Salisbury,
45-0.
