A native of Sparta, currently residing in Clemmons, where he is Vice-President with Northwestern Bank, Church was elected in May, IMS, to direct the activities of more than 10,000 Tar, .Heel Jaycees. Jim attended Sparts High School and William and Mary College. Sharing in a Pfeiffer College «*»mH sponsored mH directed tutorial program for ISO area elementary school children is Mias Elizabeth Sexton, Loolccmoc - A project of the Pfeiffer College Student Chanter of the National TfrfriPEHon Association, 40 Pfeiffer students have work ed in the program. The area youngsters are brought to the Pfeiffer campus on Wednesday nights for the tutorial sessions. Student director is Joe Internicoia, an upperrlawman from Ehnoot, Long bland, who has as his avdirectors Mike Africa, Atlantis, Fla., and San dra Allen, Gaatonia. Two 45 minute sections are - held, the first session being devoteu to reading skills. Dur ing the second session, the young stnrWnts may work hi an area such as language arts, the natural sclances, mathematics ar social studies. The program, which began in March, will end April V. Faculty advisor to the amp is Bill Tyson of the coUMe'a fflyftifln faculty. The Pfeiffer Government Associa tion has gbm the program financial support. Its seems that when the Howards were married they lived in Mooresville and came to Cooleemee where they spent their honeymoon with the Messicks. Sign Children Up For Kindergarten Summer Program Application! for the 1969-79 kindergarten programs far eligible children in Davie Coun ty are now being considered. Sponsored under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, priority is given to children of economically deprived backgrounds. A morning and afternoon session will be held at the Mocksville Elementary School at the Education center here. Morning classes will begin at 8:30 and dismiss at 11 a.m. Afternoon classes will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Transportation to the dhmnes is the responsibility of the parents of the children. Eligible children from any area of the county may attend. In the event a sufficient number of children from economicaly deprived homes do not apply, the remaining applicants will be selected on the basis of economic priority. Debbie Spry, also of Cooleemee, was elected secretary, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Spry. Home From Hospital Mrs. Lessie Blackville returned home from Davie Hospital last Thursday. She is. recuperating at the home of* her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Sell, on Joyner Street.
