Hospital Doors Will
Be Closed At Night
The Davie County Hospital
Board of Trustees has authoriz
ed the locking of all public
hospital doors each night after
the receptionist leaves around
9 p.m.
Only the emergency entrance
will remain open.
Hospital Administrator Fred
Seaford said that exit can be
made from all doors, but no
entrance can be made.
On the fire exits, locks with
alarms are being used.
Whenever these doors are open
ed, an alarm is sounded.
Mr. Seaford urged the
cooperation of the public in this

To Hawaii
Romie Gregorys'
Grandson Dies
In Chapel Hill.
Charles Calvin Gregory, 14,
son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C.
Gregory of Goldsboro died Mon
day at 11:15 a*m. at Memorial
Hospital in Chapel Hill as the
result of injuries received when
he was struck by a hit and
run driver several weeks ago.
He is be grandson of Mr.
and Mrs. Romie Gregory of
Harold Foster is often called
the luckiest imn in Cooleemee.
He is always entering contests,
regardless of the prize offered,
and usually wins one of the
smaller ones.

He really nit the jackpot
this week. He has won a severn
days, all expenses paid trip to
Hawaii for two.
Harold filled out a
questionnaire in the T. V.
Guide several months ago and
had forgotten all about it until
a letter arrived Tuesday.
The letter informed him of
the trip he had won and a form
was enclosed that is to be filled
out and returned within 10
days. From this information,
T. V. Guide will make all
arrangements, including the
' round-trip flight.
The Fosters may take the
toip at any time within the
next year. Harold commented
that his wife had always talked
of going to Hawaii, but he wish
he eouM wait untfl they built a
bridge aaroes. He isn't too
aazy about flying.

Grant Is Given
To Help Send
Retarded To Camp
With the help of many con
cerned people and organiza
tions, the Davie County Associa
tion for Retarded Children will
be able to make a dream a
reality.
For some time the association
has been hoping to take the
retarded of the county to the
mountains for a week and with
liie grant from the Yadkin
Valley Economic Development
District, the biggest obstacles
have been overcome.
This grant will take care of
the amount the association did
not anticipate from local con
tributions. Hie cost is $35 per
child for five days at Crossnore
School. A number of individuals
pnH clubs have already made
contributions to the project.
With the interest shown from
other groups, the association
feels there is enough assurance
that final plans are being made
for the trip.
Anyone interested in helping
to send these children to camp,
may send your contribution to
the Davie County Association
for Retarded children, Mrs. W.

PRESENTATION Vernon Stout, right, county
co-ordinator, presented a $665 grant from the
Yadkin Valley Economic Development District to
the Davie County Association for Retarded Children
Thursday at the Davidson County Education Center
in North Cooleemee. Receiving the grant are Bob
Hoyle, a member of the association, and Mrs.
Lib Anderson, president of the Davie County
Association for Retarded Children.
Crossnore, N. C. where two
dormitories will be used as well
as the dining hall and all
facilities of the school.
The children will participate
in hikes through the mountains,
nature studying, recreation and
handicrafts.
The highlight of the trip will
be a day at Tweetsie Railorad.
The children will be guests of
Fred Kirby and the Tweetsie
organization.
The retarded Childrens
Association is truly grateful for
the concern shown by Mr. Kirby
and arc sure this will be a
memorable experience for the
23 local children that are plan
ning to atlend.

Creason of Main Street, ac
countant for the City Motor
Company in Salisbury, has been
awarded the Business Manage
ment award for accounting ex
cellence by the Ford Motor
Company.
This is the sixth year Mrs.
Creason has received this
award.
