Pale And Shaken,
12-Year-Old Still
Gave Right Answer
Greg McCaUough 12, of
Greenville, Tennessee received
the most exciting phone call
of his life last Tuesday morning.
Greg, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Delano McCuLough, was spen
ding last week with his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
James Gregory of Pine Rkige
Road and his favorite past time
in the mornings was watching
the "Dialing for Dollars Movie"
from Channel 8 T.V.
During the Tuesday morning
movie, the phone rang. His
grandmother, who was standing
by the phone in tike kitchen,
asked Greg to please answer
for her because die was busy
with the cooking.
Greg answered the phone to
hear the voice of Dick Bennick
ask is he was watching the
Dialing for Dollars Movie, and
if he could give the count and
amount, he would be a jackpot
winner.
Greg very excitedly gave the
correct count and amount and
was the proud winner of the
SIBB jackpot.
By this time Mrs. Gregory
stopped her chores to find out
more about this strange con
versation. She then heard Dick
Bennick on T.V. ask if this
was the residence of James
Gregory and realized Greg was
talking to him.
At this point, everyone in the
house was huddled around the
phone and Greg, very excited
and quite pale, gave his name
and explained he was visiting
here.
When asked what he planned
to do with the money, Greg
told Mr. Bennick he planned

morning.
Mrs. Gregory says she is very
gird Greg answered the phone,
because she could not have
given him the correct in
formation. She also explained

Cooleemee Gets
Right To Vote
On Incorporating
Enabling legislation allowing Cooleemee
residents an opportunity to decide on becoming
an incorporated community was passed by the
N. C. General Assembly.
If such a proposal is brought to a vote it
will not come before the Institute of Government
at chapel Hill has surveyed the community's needs
and ascertained a tax rate.
The decision to press for the legislation was
prompted by the closing of the Erwin Mill here.
Some provisions must be made to insure the con
tinuation of water and sewer service in the com
munity.
Also, since the General Assembly will not be
meeting again for two years such legislation was
needed to permit the community to vote on the
issue.
Such a vote will not be held until the survey
is held and all information pertinent to making
such a move can be brought before the citizens
for their approval.
