Disabled Persons File Late, The Salisbury Social Security Office has received the results of a recent study which reveal that many disabled persons lose benefits each month in the Davie County area because they wait too long to file disability claims. According to Robert Thomas, Manager of the Salis bury Social Security Office, such losses will probably contin ue to occur unless the general public learns more about social security disability require ments and learns when a claim should be filed. The sad thing is most of those who lost benefits really needed the money during this critical time. Thomas pointed out that while no benefits may be paid for the first six full months a person is disabled, he should not wait that long to file a claim. He should file immediately if his disabling Lose Benefits condition is expected to last at least 12 months Thomas stated that when a person files early, the paper work can be com pleted. and the first check can be paid on time. He urges any one needing information about disability benefits to contact the Salisbury Social Security Office at 105 Corriher Avenue. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 11
