Recreation Center Slates
Open House October 10
It has been announced there
will be a Community Day and
Open House on Oct. 10, at the
Cooleemee Recreation Center.
The recreation facilities are
now under management of the
Cooleemee Recreation Com
mission and the direction of
Grimes Parker, Jr. «
Community Day will be in
observance of new management
On Friday

To Host District Meeting
There will be a meeting at the Barbecue will be served,
Cooleemee American Legion following the meeting.

11, at 7:30 p.m. for members cf All local members are urged

Sue Bernhardt's
Dance Class To
Hold Registration
Mrs. Sue Bernhardt ot Ber
nhardt's Dance Studio, Salis
bury will hold a registration for
all local students interested in
taking dance classes here this
fall, on Friday, September 11, at
the Cooleemee Recreation Cen
ter She will begin registering
the students at 4 p.m. and con
tinue until 6 p.m.
Mrs. Bernhardt will begin the
classes on Friday, September
18, if there are enough students
to have a class.
All interested persons should
register on Friday or notify
Mrs. Bernhardt of your desired
interest, as this will be the only
registration day.

Grimes Parker, Jr has been
selected as Recreation Director

Recreation Commission
A graduate of Davie High
School and Appalachian State
University in Boone, Parker
has been affiliated with the local
recreation activities for the past
five years During this time he
has served as life guard and
swimming instructor at the pool
and has coached the little
league in football, basketball,
baseball and softball.
He is presently employed as a
teacher at Cooleemee Ele
mentary School and is married
to the former Fran Logan of
Clearwater. Florida They have
a daughter Alicia, who is 13
months old
Beginning immediately, any
one interested in enrolling their
child in Story Hour, or in sig
ning up for a ceramics class,
may contact Mr Parker or call
him at 284-3799 This should be
done as soon as possible in order
to start the classes in the very
near future These classes will
be held if enough interest is
shown Mr. Parker will also be
glad to talk with anyone con
cerning any future activities,
parties, showers, etc to be held
at the Recreation Center
