Thanksgiving Issue
. Because of Thanksgiving, The Journal will publish on Tuesday
instead of Wednesday next week. This will enable the papers to
be distributed on the rural routes prior to the Pott Office's
Thanksgiving holiday.

Christmas Parade
The annual Christmas Pa
rade in Dave County will take
place on Saturday, December
12, beginning at 10 a.m..
This event is sponsored jointly
by the Mocksville Jaycees and
the Davie Merchants.
Anyone wishing to make an
entry in the parade may contact

Mr. Brown is past President
of the Active Davie Democrat
Club. This club has been very
active throughout the county in
helping to organize precinct
leaders and promote county
wide unity. Their efforts were
rewarded as the results of the
past election showed the Demo
crats running one of the closest
races for local office they have
seen in many years. A new
President for the Active Davie
Democrat Club will be an
nouunced later this month.
Mr. Brown is half owner of the
House of Styles in Mocksville
and resides with his wife and
two children on Route 4, Mocks
ville.

Ham Shoot
Successful
The first turkey and ham
shoot of the season was very
successful, in spite of Saturdays
bad weather. TTiere was sixteen
matches held during the after
noon.
The local Jaycees will contin
ue to sponsor the weekly ham
and turkey shoots each Satur
day afternoon until Christmas.
Last weeks big winners were
Grimes Hancock, winning two
country hams; and Jerry Har
ris, who won a turkey and a
ham.
Other ham winners were:
Monte Blackwood, David Os
borne, Jimmy Steele, and Mike
Myers.
Turkey winners were Roy
Lankford, Roy Adams, Bill
Webb, Boone Trexler, Sonny
Ramsey, Dub Shoaf, Noel Barn
ey and Libby Myers, the only
lady participating in the match.
Saturday's match will get un
derway at 11 a.m. and continue
until 5 p.m. or until there is no
one left to shoot.
There will also be a special
match for just thte ladies at 2
p.m. The winner of each shoot
will get their choice of an eight
to ten pound tuckey or a six and
one-half pound country ham.
The Jaycees invite you to try
your luck with a shotgun and
possibly take Thanksgiving
Dinner home for only sl.lO.
Community Thanksgiving
Service Set For Sunday
The Eighth Annual Commu
nity Hianksgiving Service will
be held on Sunday, November
22, at the Cooleemee United
Methodist Church beginning a(
7:30 p.m.
The Reverend Bill Cain of
Jerusalem Baptist Church will
deliver the message.
Other ministers of the com
munity will also have part in
this service of worship and
praise. The combined choirs of
the Cooleemee Methodist and
First Baptist Churches will pro
vide special music under the
direction of Mrs. Ann Boger.

In this time of turmoil and
confusion, war and hate, let us
gather in His church to petition
for His guidance and grace. We
need to come as one for worship
and thanksgiving.
The people of Cooleemee and
surrounding communities are
coridaliy invited to attend this
service.

Davie Democrats
Have Permanent
Headquarters
Dale Brown, newly appointed
Chairman of the Davie County
Democrats, announces that the
party will maintain a per
manent headquarters from now
until the 1972 election.
The headquarters will be lo
cated in the Masonic Building
on Court Square in Mocksvillc
and will be used for all County
Executive Meetings and is
available to every precinct in
the county for their precinct
meetings.

elections and other information
that would be of help and benefit
