The season of Thanksgiving is up- \
on us. Just how thankful are you? 4
The measure of - your thankful- <
nsss is found in what you are willing <
to do, and will do, for those who are <
not as fortunate as you are. If you <
are truly thankful for this Christian <
land of oars, for the creature com- {
forts that God has given you during j
the past year, for the prosperity <
that your community, your state, and <
your nation enjoy, you will show it <
by trying to pass on to some one less <
fortunate than yourself, some of the <
blessings that you and yours are en- <
joying- ;
If yon are looking for some such <
outlet as this for the joyful spirit of <
Thanksgiving that is filling your ]
heart, we commend to your consid- j
nation the appeal of the North Car- <
oJina Orphan association. This or- <
ganisation is asking every citizen of \
the Old North State to give to the <
orphanage of his or her choice on
Thanksgiving Day, the full proceeds
of one day's labor. There are 23 of
these institutions in North Carolina.
All of them are cleanly administered
and all of them are worthy of the
support of all good people. You will
make no mistake in giving to any of ^
them. - v,
These orphanages are doing a won- s
derful work in North Carolina. Ham- ^
pored by lack of equipment and mon- <
ey aa they have always been, still J
they have added wonderfully to J
North Carolina's richest assets?her <
manhood and her womanhood. Many |
thousands of homeless and helpless J
children have been lifted out of. and <
above mean and sordid environment i\
and have been developed into useful J
men and women by these orphanages j
