Meetings of Council held in Christ Church. ? The 41st annul Council of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina * met in Christ church, New Bern, Tuesday morning at ten o'clock for the purpose of organising. The Rt. Rev. Thomas C. Darst, D. D., Bishop of East Carolina, opened the first session with his annual address, in whieh he reaffirmed his own faith in the integrity of the creeds of the church in safe-guarding the essential truth of the divinity of Jesus Christ, and set at rest differing opinions as to the attitude that the Diocese of East Carolina would take when he stated that he had no apologies to make for being one of the Bishops who recently sent out a pastoral letter emphasizing the fact that the Epis copal church stood four square on the true fundamentals of Chnsuamty^^ Rev. Inspiring and splendid addresses were made daring the other sessions, among which* was that of Rev. W. H. Wheeler, superintendent of Thompson orphanage; Dr. W. W. Way, who set "forth the work at St. Marys; Rev. Mr. Lawrence, who spoke of the work at Chapel HID, sad George B. Elliott, vice-president of the Coast Line, a prominent layman, who outlined a feasible plan whereby the spiritual leaden of the church may be relieved of th^.
