For it was approved, after a ses sion lasting four months, on ; t$*t date in 1787. it replaced the existing Articles of Federation and was final ly ratified by efeh of the thirteen states. 1:'' The national eonstitotion is remark able in that it is a grant of power. to a government, aet up by the docu ment itself.
