THE TOP ROUND BELONGS TO US YET GREENVILLE. Due to the fact that Farmville had a block sale on the opening and was unable to figure its av erage until the block had been cleared away, the Greenville Re flector had the nerve to claim for Greenville the highest mar ket in the state before waiting to hear from the real leader of the past. Now Greenville, you will simply have to take a seat a little behind your neighbor? FARMVILLE, for we still, hold that record with an official av erage of $26.55; anc^ this open ing sale average was exceeded on Thursday with a market av erage of $27.52. Again you have crowed a little soon Green ville, and your little brother is bound to call you. When you reached the point that you have been braging about with success then farmville will take its hat off to you in congratulations. But remember old boy, Farmville still holds this honor. Ems UN IMPORT Breaks Record. Department of State Colleded $282. - 452.38 Pa& Year Raleigh, Sept. 7.?Over a quarter of a million dollars, which more than doubles all previous records, was tun ed into the state treasury by Secre tary of State W. N. Everett during the fiscal year ending June 31, ac cording to his annual report just sub mitted to Governor McLean. The ex act amount was $282,452J!$ while the ?previous high mark, made during the previous year, was $119,325-38. The large part of the income came in the form of corporation tax which amounted to $225,673.22 as compared .to $75,968.80 of the year before. This unprecedented gain was due -to the great increase in the number oif charters granted and to the single item of $130,000 levied upon tfie Carolina Power and Light company at the time of its consolidation and re-incorpora tion. This is the largest fee ever col lected by the office. ** Fees paid by foreign corporations amounted to $25,117.20 as compared to $9,521.18 collected the year before. The sale of sumpreme court reports showed a slump of over $3,000 during the year. The revenue from this source amounted to $7,780.78 as com pared to $10,977.07 of the previous fiscal period. ? ?? 8 ! 8 ffW A ^^8 W* i K m N Ki .r | ?** RSiHWWw9 IH?''nllM?-fl I11LLLU 111 IMIvkl ?
