STAY CLEAR OF FIRE TRUCK The attention of the public is again called to the fact that automobiles or other vehicles are forbidden to inter fer in the least, with your local' fire company in answering fire alarms, but instead should stop if driving till after the fire company has passed, and then not drive too close up to where, the company is located. Oh the occasion of the last fire alarm was it especially noticeable the fire truck was complete ly surrounded by automobiles, and in case another hydrant should have had to be reached, a heavy loss would have occurred before the truck could have gotten to it. The public is asked to co-operate with the company by not getting in tihe way, as it may mean a great loss or possibly some serious injury to someone. MR. LEM. S. HARDY DIES IN HIS SEVENTY-SEVENTH YEAR Mr. Lem S. Hardy died in his sev enty-seventh year Wednesday morn ing at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John I. Baker on Contentnea street after a brief illness; although he had been in declining health for several years. For the past year or more Mr. Hardy had made his home with Mrs. Baker. The funeral was held Thurs afternoon and body was laid to rest in thes family burial plot at the old home place in Greene county, near Snow Hill, beside that his wife who had long before gone to her reward. Mr. Hardy was a member of the Free Will Baptist church and funeral was conducted; by Rev. Mr' Moye, of Snow Hill, assisted by Revs. J! M. Duncan and J. W. Harrell, D. D., of Farmville. r. ' ' Mr. Hardy is survived by one sop, Mr, Jesse W. Hardy of this city, and four daughters, namely:^ Mrs. J. I. tendance upon the last sad rites.
