EPISCOPALIANS OP DIOCESE
From all parts of the Diocese of
East Carolina Episcopalians gathered
Sunday at Camp Leach, a beautiful
- camp aite about 12 miles from
\ Washington, recently purchased by
thtem, for the benefit and recreation
of their %oung people.
This waa the <Ry of change in the
camp, the young people of 14-21,
who had been assembled for 2 weeks
leaving, and the juniors going in for
the same number of days.
There were about 400 present at
the services held in the open air
chapel on the Pamblico river bank,
thia number including 90 campers,
the faculty, and directors. The ser
vice was conducted by Dr. Frank
Dean of Wilmington, who has charge
of the young people's work of the
Diocese, and director of the camp,
whose tireless energy and efforts in
behalf of the buying and establishing
of the camping grounds, made the
event possible. He was assisted by
the Rev. Iillicrop of Greenville, the
camp chaplain.

Oust, who expressed his pleasure a?
East Carolina's dream of a camp
site, becoming a reality. He closed
with an announcement of awards?
Groups 2 girls, Maggie Cantweli,
leader and Group 2 uoys, John Har
good, leader, won in the group con
test Cups, signifying the highest
honor conferred upon a camper, we He
awarded to Kate Bailey, Maggie Cant
well, Margaret Ellison and Kathleen
Hardy. Other honors and awards
fcU to winners in various fields of
camp activities, the popular vote of
beet all around campers among the
gills going to Maggie Cand to Jim
Dechwith for the boys. A basket
lunch was enjoyed at 1:30.
The Juniors, from 10-14 years,
numbering about a hundred, came in
during the day, taking the place of
the Seniors. The camp has a splen
did daily progress of classes, ath
letics, recreation and entertainment
supervised by able instructors and is
filling a long felt need in the life of
the young people of the church.
ROBERT HORN TYSON DEAD
Robert Horn, 19 year old son of
Mr. John Joyner Tyson of Cbilders
burg, Alaboma, died July 4th.
The young man with a few of his
friends was out on a fishing party
on the Coosa river when suddenly
he fell overboard. Three hours later,
when the body was rescued it was
found that he (fid not drown, but had
had a suddn heart attack which was
the instant cause of his death. He
had been apparently in perfect
health previously.
Robert Horn was the only child of
his parents. He was a grandson of
the late Mr. Grigg Tyson and a
great grandson of the late Mrs. Pat
Bleeher of Farmville.
Among those from here who went
to Alabama for the funeral were
Mrs. Annie Tyson Flanagan and Mr.
Elbert ML Tyson.
