Friends here received the following announcement this week: "Mrs. Lil ian S tailings Hyde announces the marriage of her daughter, Eloise Curtis, to Mr. William Jesse Moye, on Friday, December, the twenty-second, " nineteen hundred and thirty-three, Greenville, North Carolina." Both Mr. and Mrs. Moye are well known here and have many frieinds in Farmville, who were interested to hear of their marriage. Mrs. Moye, who lives in Greenville, visited friends here from time to time, and is very popular. Mr. Moye is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses L. Moye, who live near Farm ville. He has been living with hie parents since leaving the United States Marine service several months ago. While with the Marines lilr. Moye saw service in Nicarauga, in the air photography branch. HONORING MRS. COOKE Among the delightful social events, occurring during the Christinas holi days here, were those given compli mentary to Mrs. Harry Cooke, of ML Olive, a recent bride, who was before her marriage on December 16, Miss Louise Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Smith of Farmville. The first, a lovely bridge party hobnail shower, at which Miss Eliza beth Davis was hostess, was given at her home on Church street on Tuesday afternoon. Elaborate decorations, throughout the home, were sugges tive of the holiday season, a green and white color motif being used ef fectively in the living room and in the delicious refreshments, served when cards were laid aside. The high score prize, a green compact, was won by Miss Edna Foust Harris, the honoree receiving a 'hobnail lamp and Mrs. Robert Lee Smith, also a recent bride, was remembered with a box of face powder. Giifts of the popular hobnail glass ware were * placed oh tables bearing an artistic arrangement of white chrysanthemums and green candles, and were opened by Mrs. Cpoke. The second event, a delightful mis cellaneous shower, was given by Miss Edna Foust Harris on Thursday after noon. Wreaths, evergreens and red candles were artistically arranged hi the living and reception rooms. A program of music was presented by. Miss Mae Joyner, Mrs. John D. Hol mes and Miss Alice Harper Parker, at the conclusion of which the guests were invited to view a gleaming Christmas tree laden with beautiful gifts for Mrs; Cooke. ? Refreshments were served in the dining room from the table, at either end of which sat therhostess and hon oree, pouring coffee and serving froz en fruit salad. Miss Vivian Parker Harris, Evelyn Horton, Mrs. Robert Lee Smith and Mrs. Will Moore as sisted in passing the plate, saltines and pickles. ? ? ? ? ?? I ?? LITERAY-ART DEPARTMENT Mrs. J. M. Hobgood and Mrs. J. B. Joyner were joint hostesses at a de lightful meeting of the Literary-Art department of the Woman's Club on Wednesday afternoon at the home of the former, which was lovely with its Christmas decorations. Current events were read in re sponse to the roll call Mrs, George W. Davis presided and announced the program, which consisted of an in teresting paper, relative to Willian Osier's career as a clinican, and a se lection read by Mrs. J. L- Shackle ford which contained facts and le gends concerning Christmas carols. The department members and guests joined in singing a number of favorite carols, at intervals. Mrs. Hobgood told of the memorial to be presented to National headquarters by the club women of North Carolina, in honor of Mrs. Sal lie Southall Cottan, in January, and displayed by her sister, Mrs. D. S. Reynolds, of Detroit, and herself daring the holidays. A delightful sweet course was served after adjournment. Additional guests at this time included Mrs. j>, S. Mashburn, of the Christian chuwa, Conducting the last Mr. Cobb was recognized as a gal lant and courageous soldier during the Spanish-American War, and serv ed two terms of enlistment in the United States army, being stationed for several years in Puerto Rico, where he met and married his wife who survives him. He was a loyal member of the Pitt County Camp of L the Spanish-American War Veterans, named forCapt James) Thomas Smith, several members of which attended the funeral. He was the father of a World War veteran, Earl Cobb, his only child, who died of influenza in a training camp shortly after enlist ment. His mrther, Fannie J. Matthews, of Farraville; two brothers, Bruce Cobb, Farmviile, and Glenn Cobb of New York, LAST RITES HELD ON SATURDAY FOR MISS ADDIE MAY BYNUM Last rites were held for Miss Addle May Bynum, highly esteemed Greene county woman, whose death occurred on Friday morning- at her home, after a serious illness of several weeks, on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home, about three mles from Farmvilie, by Rev. C. B. Mashburn, pastor of .the local Christiim church, assisted by Rev. L. C. Scarhoro of Bath. The services were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends, and the body was laid to rest herei in Forest Hill cemetery beneath a blank et of handsome flowers. Floral bearers were: Misses Mary, Gladys and Lucy Barrow, Dixie Bar rett, !?esdaroes G. M. Holden, Loys MESrphy, Hubert Dixon, J. O.
