new club house on the Country Club
grounds, which has just been finish- !
ed.
The first event, marking its com
pletion, will be the annual stockhold
ers meeting and dinner, to bo mi
Friday evening, August 25, at
o'clock, at which President George
W. Davis will preside as toastxnastsr
and reports will be heard from the
various officers and committees, in
cluding that of the nominating com
mittee, which will recommend mem
bers for offices in the annual elec
tion.
The present officers are: George
W. Davis, President; John B. Lewis,
Vice-President; W. A. Pollard, Jr.,
Secretary-Treasurer; Ed Nash War
ren, assistant Secretary-Treasurer.

the officers have worked faithfully
to bring this undreamed of addition .
to Farmville's recreational life, are

The Victors dinner, which brought
the tournament to a successful cul
mination, was furnished hy the Blue
team as a forfeit, and attended by
two hundred, including members who
oniy talk golf and seyeral who were
on the prospeftivelist George ;W.
Davis delivered the welcoming ad
dress and B. O. Taylor, the winning
team manager, and i-Bill Royster,
manager of the Blues, .spoke between
bursts of thunderous applause.
Tournament aeries are engaged
in from time to time with other
clubs and the fall program calls for
a number of contest games.
The course is now in excellent
shape, the best- in its history, and
the overs of this, the favorite out
door sport of the world, are cordially

make it the most attractive recrea

Chapter House, of colonial architect
ure, handsome chaste and Bpacious,
is a source of justified pride to every
citizen in Farmvifle,whether official
ly connected with the organization
or not, for the construction of this
beautiful building is an outstanding
achievement
The Chapter. House is serving
Farmville in the way of an ideal cul
tural center and its formal opening,
to be held in October, wiH be an epoch
in the history of the town. Present
plans designate a program at wide
interest in which notable figures
and State officials will take part,
and hundreds of interested out of
town people will join the community
in celebrating this occasion. . Maity
exquisite gifts of furnishings for the
House have been presented to the
Chapter in anticipation of the event
