M. Wheless, Jr., leaves on Sunday to join her husband in York, Pa., where j they will make their home. ' I WATCH NIGHT SERVICE A Watch-Night Service will be observed in the Methodist chirch on December 31st beginning at 11:15 P. M. The Pastor will be in charge of this service with the young people participating. GARDEN CLUB MEETING POSTPONED INDEFINITELY The Garden Club meeting, which was scheduled to be held on Satur day, has been postponed. SHRINERS OF COUNTY TO MEET HERE THURSDAY The Pitt County Shrine Club will hold its annual meeting in Faxmville on Thursday night, January 4, in the Rotary Club dining room at seven o'clock. Mrs. Morgan Has In formal Tea, Junior Woman's Club and Le gion Auxiliary Meet During Holidays The'outstanding social event of the Christmas season was the formal holiday dance, held by the Mayfair Club in the school gymnasium on Tuesday evening with around two hundred members and guests from nearby towns in attendance. This affair was reported as one of the most enjoyable of any social func tion held by the organization. Lath Morriss, vice president of the club and R. 0. Lang, Jr., secretary and treasurer were in charge of ar rangements. The gym decorations of pine, wreaths, holly and lights wtere artis tic and lent an atmosphere of good cheer and merriment to the occasion. Music was furnished by Ted Ross and his group of University of North Carolina musicians. Mrs. D. R. Morgan was at home to several friends on Wednesday after noon, entertaining at a lovtely in formal tea from three to four o'clock. Wreaths, holly and tapers were in attractive arrangements throughout the home. The hostess served Russian tea from a beautifully appointed tea wagon and a variety of dainty san'd-| wiches and cinnamon rings were mmihuu] kt? The guests were later invited into the dining room where a large Christ mas tree and buffet decorations pro-j vided a lovely setting for the table, | which was spread with a lace doth, arranged with a centerpiece in the ! Upon leaving, the guests; were presented with a boutonniere of, pink roses and fern. Mrs. R. LeRoy Parker and Miss Dorothy Fargis were gracious hos-! teases this week to the Junior Worn-! an's Club at a meeting held in the home of Mrs. Charles H. Mozingo. i Seasonal decorations and candle light provided the home with an at mosphere of good cheer. Mrs. Parker presided and present-, ed the speaker, Mrs. Cherry Easley, I who discussed "Christmas, Its Tradi-I tions and Customs." Mrs, Howard Moye reported activities of Junior club women at this season as gleaned from the "Club Womar," and Mrs. Jack Lewis, chairman of the ways and means committee reported plans of her committee. Henvenly hash, coffee and nuts were served during a pleasant social ,hour. Mrs. W. E. Joyner presided at the | December meeting of the American. I Legion Auxiliary, held in the Legion Home, with Mrs. Louise D. Harris and Mrs. H. Neal Howard as joint ihastesses. Featuring the program was a talk j relating to the celebration of Christ mas in America and in other lands by Rev. D. A. Clarke, and bringing it to a delightful conclusion was the vocal rendition of "Jesu Bambino," by Mrs. J. W. Joyner. During a business session the Auxi liary laid plans for giving Christmas cheer to three families of the com munity, with Mrs. J. H. Bynum, Mrs. B. F. Weaver and Mrs. B. R.
