War is contrary to the spirit of the Prince of Peace, therefore is evil. War is a destroyer of property, of ideals, of human lives. We are not destroyers. We are builders. This conflict, having been forced upon us, we give ourselves to the preservation and extension of the ideals of American democracy and Christian liberty. We seek to defend our country from foes without and within; believing the best defense is to teach and exempli* fy the Christian way of life.
