Mrs. Marvin Jones stored high for the Club, and received War Savings Stamps. Mrs. Will Joyner retained the floating prize, playing cards, given to the player holding a hand, ten spot high. Smith graciously enter* taineed the Rebecca Wmbourne Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, on Friday afternoon at her home in which red quince, purple pansies and white gladioli were uaed in lovely decoration. In theu absence of the President, Mrs, Wv M. WOUs presided, opening the meetfaig with the ritual and flag salutes. Mrs. Willi# and Mrs. G. M. Hoiden developed the program for the afternoon, giving a sketch of the life of Jr-mea Monroe, fifth President of the United States, and talking on the Monroe Doctine. After adjournment, hot tea was served with party sandwiches and cookies. JUNIOR WOMAN'S CLU«J Miss Estelle McBride and Miss Hazel Baker were hostesses to the Junior Woman's Glub at a lovely meeting on Thursday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. R. A. Parker which was decorated with beautiful spring flowers. * • Mrs. Matay Pollard, President, presided and appointed committees of the month for the Club Project and for the Club's pa/t in the Cancer Control Drive. Miss Frances Winstead, speaker for the evening, took her listeners on an imaginary trip to Washington State, visiting points of interest enroots, sharing with them the many pleasures af inch a trip taken by her at this time last year. She illustrated her talk with colorful scenic cards. The hostesses served delicious lemon chiffon pie with coffee and salted nuts. Local Red Craw contributions continue to come in and the total figure to date stands at $3,100.
