Gribben, Bishop of the Diocese of Weston North Carolina as the honored guest. The Rector, Rev. Jack Rountree, and various officials of the organised groups of the Church made brie/ talks. ; The subject for the Sunday morning service at the Christian Church will be, "The First Food Conservation Congress." ' PRESBYTERIAN YOUNG PEOPLE The Pioneers of the Presbyterian Church met on Thursday of la*£ week with Janet Stansill. Viols Smith conducted the devotional, speaking' of the "Good Samaritan." The offering was received by Peggy Burgess. The program was presented by the hostess and her subject was "The, Mountain People." Refreshments were pepai-cola, salted nuts and cakes. Worsley of Rocky Mount, spent several days of this week with Us sister, Mrs. R. T. Williams, and Dr. Wil liams addressed the Rotary (Hob oil Tuesday evening and the Junior Woman's Club on Tuesday afternoon. In speaking- to th« Rotarians, Mr. Worsley toM at the construction of the Panama Canal, of the effective defense that they have now for the Canal and the area surroundfhg and of the program being carried on by the Rotary Club, the churches, the clubs, etc., in the Canal Zone for benefit of the great crowds of people who are now in this section.
