vehicles.

Ans.?He can meet the financial
responsibility requirements by carry
ing automobile liability insurance or
posting with the Commissioner of
Motor Vehicles cash, securities or
real estate in such amounts as~ the
Commissioner may decide, subject to
a limit of $11,000.

(2) Any person convicted of and
any person forfeiting bond in con
nection ?with any offenses set forth
below shall have his Heense revoked
for at least one year and shall not
be reinstated until such person gives
and thereafter maintains proof of fi
nancial responsibility: Manslaughter
(or negligent homicide) resulting
from the operation of s mbtor vehi
cle; driving a motor vehicle while
under the influence of intoxicating
liquor or a narcotic drug; any felony
in the commission of which a motor |
vehicle was used; failure to stop and
render aid as required under the laws
of this sta,te in the event of a motor
vehicle accident; perjury or the mak
ing of a false affidavit or statement
under oath relating to the- owner
ship of motor vehicles; conviction or
forfeitures of bail not vacated upon
two charges of reckless driving com
mitted within a period of 12 months;
conviction or forfeiture of bail not
vacated upon one charge of reckless
driving while engaged in the illegal
transportation of intoxicants for the
purpose of sale.
(3) Any person who has been leg
ally adjudged insane,, or a congenital
idiot, an imbecile, an epileptic or
feeble-mi Tided, or who has been com
mitted to or has entered an institu
tion ss an inebriate or a habitual
user of narcotic drugs, Bhall have his
Heense and registration revoked, and
shall not be returned unless the com
mission is satisfied that he is com
petent to operate a motor vehicle and
only then if. he gives and thereafter
maintains proof of his financial re
sponsibility.
. (4) The commissioner shall sus
pend the operator's license, registra
tion certificates nnd registration
plates issued to any person who has
failed for a period of 60 days to satis
fy any judgment for more than $50
for damages because of injury to or
destruction of property, including
loss of its use, or any judgment for
damages, including damages for care
and loss of services, because of
bodily injury to or death of any per
son arising out of the ownership, use
or operation of any motor vehicle.*
(5) An unlicensed pereon involved
in a motor vehicle accident, in which
it should be determined that he was
at fault involving damages in excess
of $50 must show and thereafter
maintain proof of financial respon
sibility before obtaining a license.

due to' an unpaid judgment, what

instated?
Ahs.?By satisfaction bf judgment
in full, by obtaining a court order al
lowing the, judgment to be paid lir
installments and giving proof of fu
ture financial responsibility, or if
the person to whom the judgment is
payable consents in writing that the
other party be allowed reinstatement
of licenses and providing the party

There has been enacted by the General Assembly of North Carolina, effective July 1,
1947, House BUI No. 63, known as the "MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY AND RESPONSI
BILITY ACT/' .
I This Act Provides:
(1) After involvement in an automobile accident causing bodily injury or deal
person or damage to property in excess of $9<M)00, such damages mi
within 60 days after judgment has been rendered by a court of compel
