18 TOWNS PARTICIPATING [ IN 1949 GARDEN CLUB TOUR -- 1 Eighteen towns in North Carolina will throw open their gardens and old homes and historic places for the 1949 Garden Club Tour, Mrs. Wesley Taylor of Greensboro, chairman of the event, announces. { Commencing April 1, 2 and 3 at Wilmington and Goldsboro, the gar den openings will progress across the state, climaxed with showings in Asheville in May. 1 The most elaborate tour is planned at Edenton April 8, 9, 10 when the old soundside town will present 22 places during “Old Home Week,” in cluding historic town houses and plantations. ; Garden clubs in the following towns have announced their intention to participate: Wilmington, Golds boro, Wilson, Edenton, Hillsboro, Durham, Chapel Hill, Greensboro, High Point, Southepi Pines, Hender son, Newton, Reidsville, Concord, Charlotte, New Bern and Asheville. , NOTE OF THANKS I take this means of expressing my appreciation for the prayers, flowers, cards, gifts and other kind nesses extended me uring my recent illness. Lang, Jr., moved the edition of the following ordinance; “Whereas the unregulated puking of truck tractors ana truck trailers are greatly damaging the paved streets of the Town of FarmviUe; “Whereas overnight parking by said trucks in the fire district would constitute a menace to the efficient operation of the fire department in case of a fire in the fire district: NOW THEREFORE BE AND IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF FAKMVILLE in regular session on Tuesday, Febru ary 1st, 1949, that: 1. That no truck tractor and/or truck trailer be allowed to park on any of the paved streets of the Town of Farmville from 6:00 o’clock P. M. until 6 :00 o’clock A. M.; that all truck tractors and/or truck trailers are hereby prohibited from-' puking on any paved streets of the Town of Farmville, N. C., between the hours of 6:00 P. M. and 6:00 A. M.; 2. That all persons, firms and/or corporations are hereby prohibited from lowering the iron wheels on truck trailers to the paved streets of the Town of Farmville at any time, except in case of emergency, in which ease the operator of said trailer shall place or caused to be placed a plank or other suitable object under said iron wheel or wheels so that the streets of Farmville shal at all time streets of Farmville shall at all time said iron wheel qr wheels. 3. Lang, Jr., moved the adop tion of the following ordinance: .“Whereas no sidewalks have been ppv*d alongside much of the paved streets in the Town of Farmville, N. C.; “And whereas many persons culti vate vacant properties adjoining paved streets and in many instances cultivate the'lands up to the curb stones of said paved streets, drag ging dirt and rubbish into the gutter fines, breaking the pavement and de priving other citizens of the Town of the use of said tends immediately ad jacent to said paved streets as a sidewalk * “NOW* therefore, -BE AND IT IS HERE ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Farm ville, N.
