Rountree, in charge. high school basketball team lost its first game of the season Tuesday night, bowing to Winterville, 47-45, in a game which saw the Red Devils staging a gallant second half rally that almost gave them a victory. Mr. Hob good of Wilson, Episcopal rector., Mrs. Joyner succumbed Friday morn ing to a critical illness of several days and after failing in health for a long period. ,, A choir, composed of Mrs. M. v. Jones, Mrs. K. C. Copenhaver, Mrs. A. W. Bobbitt, Mrs. Frank A. Wil liams,Mrs. GT. -Alex Bouse, Charles F. Baucom and Elbert C. Holmes softly hummed Silent Night ^as they assembled, sang My Faith Looks op to Thee and O Lamb of God Still Keep Me, at the home, and Abide With Me, at the graveside, where Services were concluded with the reading of Crossing the Bar by the Bev. Mr. Rountree. Interment was made in Hollywood cemetery beneath a large and hand some floral tribute. Members of the Episcopal church auxiliary, the Lite rary club and the Contract club act ed as floral bearers. Active pallbear ers were Marvin Horton, Horton Rountree, Prank Williams, Hubert C. Joyner, T. S. Ryon, Ed Nadi Warren, J. H. Darden, Jr., and P. W. Satterth waite. Members of the Kfwanis club served si honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Joyner, talented and gracious, was a native of Fanaville and a de scendant of prominent and pioneer families, being the daughter of the late W. C. and JBettie Belcher As sew.
