Farrnviile churches have planned
morning services for Sunday in keep
ing with the first Christmas.
“God Comes to His World" will be
the topic of the sermon by Rev. E.
W. Holmes, Baptist pastor. The wor
ship choir will sing two anthems,
“Echoes of Christinas Eve” and "The
Birthday of a King” with Elbert
Holmes as soloist v.i j
Sunday school will be held at 9:48.
Evening worship and training union
on Sunday and the prayer service
scheduled for Wednesday night have
been cancelled.

Midnight mass will be celebrated at
Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic church at
midnight Christmas eve. Christmas
carols will begin at 11:40. Father
Joachim Benson, newly-appointed
pastor, wishes to make known to vis

first game of the season Tuesday
night, bowing to Winterville, 47-45,
in a game which saw the Red Devils
staging a gallant second half rally
that almost gave them a victory.

the lead to 27-18 at the half. Farm
ville’s spurt had the game tied at 41
all at the end of the third -quarter.
Randolph Allen scored a field goal
in the last second of play—a goal
that would have tied the score—hut
it was nullified by the officials.
Albert Cannon led Farmvilte with
15 points and W. Honda was second
with 10. Randolph Allen and Chaa
Fitzgerald were the best on defense
for FarmviUe.
Final rites were Conducted at 3
o’clock Sunday afternoon for Mrs.
Kispeth Askew Joyner, a prominent
and beloved Farmvilie woman and
wife of J. W. Joyner, from the home
at 308 N. Main st., by the Rev. J, R.
Rountree, rector of Emmanuel 'Epis

Mrs. Joyner succumbed Friday morn
ing to a critical illness of several
days and after failing in health for
a long period. ,,

Interment was made in Hollywood
cemetery beneath a large and hand
some floral tribute. Members of the
Episcopal church auxiliary, the Lite
rary club and the Contract club act
ed as floral bearers. Active pallbear
ers were Marvin Horton, Horton
Rountree, Prank Williams, Hubert C.
Joyner, T. S. Ryon, Ed Nadi Warren,
J. H. Darden, Jr., and P. W. Satterth
waite. Members of the Kfwanis club
served si honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Joyner, talented and gracious,
was a native of Fanaville and a de
scendant of prominent and pioneer
families, being the daughter of the
late W. C. and JBettie Belcher As
sew. She was graduated from Farm
viiie high school and attended St.
