The crops along the railroad between York ville end Rock Hill k»k better than they have looked for years at this reason. A negro named Curtis Davis was killed by lightning on the Ely Stewart place, about three miles west ot Yorkville last Wednesday afternoon. When the storm came np, Davis and another negro took refuge under a targe oak tree. Shortly after the storm the two negroes were found lying under the tree In an ancon sc ions condition. The annual Gold Hill picnic is to be held on AtfgK nst 19, end is to be as big, an affair as usual. -The Tirxah peo ple are considering the idea - of a picnic on the occasion of the campaign meeting there, sod there will no doubt be picnics at Forest Hill, Piedmont Springs and Blairsville. Notice was given tba secretary of state today by tbe Catawba Power company of an increase in tbe capital stook from $750, 000 to $850,000. This company ia building an enormons plant not far from Rock Hill that will supply the team of Charlotte and tbe snrroanding territory with light sad power tor various enterprises. Dr. W.
