Col. Robert L. Abernetby, the president of tire smociatioa, called tbe meet tag to order, after which an election for officers was held with the result that Col. Aber nathy was honored by being re elected to tbe presidency of tbe association, and Mr. J. £,. Paett was elected secretary. A committee consisting of one from each township in the coun ty. was appointed to formulate an executive committee. Senator O. F. Mason was called upon to speak, bntreplied that be declined to make a speech as be knew nothing of farming, bat encouraged tbe association to go forward in tbe good work it was doing. Col. Abernetby then ad dressed tbe fanners and begged of eaofa one to do tbeir beat to farther the work of the associ ation. Col. Abernetby was followed by Rev W. A. Deaton. Mr. Deaton is a very forcible speak er and as be baa been ia this county for some years he folly understands tbe prevailing con ditions. He urged tbe farmers to increase tbeir intelligence by reading papers bearing oa their liae of work. Mr. Denton, then made a strong plea for tbe edu cation of the farmers' children, that the next generation might farm more intelligently and better than the present one is now doing. He then advised the farmers to raise not only cotton, but stock as well, and everything needed on their farms. Mr. Deaton’s third and last point waa that tbeir farming a b o n 1 d be intensive rather than extensive. The acreage should be reduced, and tbe laid tilled ahonld receive better at tention. —If any of onr subscribers have failed to receive tbeir paper for Tnesdav they will confer a favor by notifying this office at once.
