But it will not be so soon forgotten. —There will be services at the Gastonia Lutheran Church Wednesday, Thursday and Fri day evenings at 8:15 o'clock. The services. will be conducted by members of the United Synod which is in Session in Dallas, this week. —The Building and Loan float containing the bouse and yard was drawn through the town Saturday afternoon Γη full rigging. The beating of a bass drum signalled its progress through the town and suburbs, and Secretary Armstrong went along to talk building and loan. —"The Idea of God" was the theme of a thoughtful and elo quent discourse by Rev. It was a better time to get out than it had been since the horse started to rua. The buggy was slightly damaged, and parts of the harnass wr.t cut*to extricate tbe fallen horse. It seems to be a cross between a lizard and an ordinary toad. Mr. John McSwain brought it from Oklahoma a few weeks ago and gave it to his brother's son, Mr. A. C. McSwain. Green, Prank, and l^ogan. Her home is with the last named son. It was hoped that there might be a family reunion in her honor this summer, but her feeble health will not probably permit it. She is far from well and ia a constant sufferer. Mrs. Stowe was recently mentioned among the surviving parent* who had soos in the civil war. She lost two sons. Jasper and Pinkney, in the army. KtBlfkk'SHWsr. Mr. James L. Keudrick and Miss Maggie Spencer were nnited in marriage last Thursday night by Rev. R. C. Andersou. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bHdc'a parents, Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Spencer, sooth of the Loray. The wed ding was a quiet home affair, bat still there were a large num ber of the yodng couple's friends present. The happy couple left Monday morning tor Charlotte, where they will be at home for the summer. Ths Gazbttk ex· tenda ita best wishes to these popular people. ' Mr. Andi Orraer Dead. Mr. Austin Groner, an aged and highly respected citizen of Gaatonia, was found dead in bis bed early Saturday morning. Mr. Groner, who lived acroas the railroad from the Gray Mill, although be had been unwell for several days, bad been at work the day before his death. He had gotten np the morning cf bia death, but returned to bed, where, nnhour later,he waa found dead. The funeral exercises were conducted by Rev. J. A. Hoyle Sunday morning at 10 o'clock and the remaina were buried in the city cemetery. Mr. Groner ia survived by a son and three daughters. They are Mr. John Groner, of*Gas tonia; Mrs. Tate Keeoer, of Maiden; Mrs. Mary White, with whom he lived, and Mra. Edna Orr, of Chester; Mra. Maggie Withers, of Charlotte, and Mrs. W. K.
