For several reasons there was un usual interest attaching to the Dem ocratic primaries held in Mecklen burg county last Tuesday. Mecklen burg was the last county to hold pri maries and each of the candidates was making strenuous eftortB to cap ture as large a slice of the vote as 'possible. On the night before the primaries were held Mr.' Kitchin and Mr. Craig had met in their second Joint debate of the campaign in Char letto and the occasion was made good use of by the friends of both candi dates. Charlotte and Mecklenburg coun ty, however, have been conceded as Horne territory for some time, and the result of the primaries was not especially surprising. Mr. Horne had made no speeches, but had used the advertising columns of the Char lotte papers freely and had a large numbe^lr active workers in the county.^^v The poWfar vote was as follows:, Horne, l,930>-JCitchIn, f,t99; Craig, 1,144. The eTectral vote of the county in the State convention will be divided as follows: Horne, 9.9'5; Kitchin, 6.17; Craig, 5.88. HEITASOPH MEETINNG.
