Warren, principal of the Central graded school, returned last week from Durham where he at tended the sessions of the State As sociation of City School Superintend ents. Mr. E. L. Williamson, who has been the guest for several days of his brother-in-law. Rev. R. C. Ander son, left yesterday morning for his home at Martinsville, Va. "Mrs. Williamson will remain here for some days yet. Rev. 'Mr. Griffith, of Bessemer City, was to have preached at the A. R. P. church but was detained at his home by reason of illness. In his absence R$y. Dr. Galloway, the pas tor, filled the pulpit Sunday morn ing, much to the delight of his con- iMr. Frank Jackson, secretary of the Montreat Association, is spend ing a few days here with his par ents, IMr. and Mrs. J. Frank Jack son, and other relatives, having come over from Charlotte where he attended the meeting of the execu tive committee of the association of which he is a member. He expects to return to his hom& at Montreat this week. Mr. C. C. Cornwell, clerk of the court, asks The Gazette to state that he has two pension warrants, for 26 each, for W. H. Putnam and A. J. Martin, Confederate veterans. He has mailed them to the former ad dresses of these men and they have been returned to him uncalled for. So far he has been unable to deliver them to the owners. He would be pleased to have information that would enable him to deliver these pension warrants. Unless Messrs. Putnam and Martin are located soon the checks will be returned to the State auditor. s The Abernethy-Shields Drug Company began yesterday morning to move from the Ragan building to the new Realty building on West 'Main avenue where 'they have one of the handsomest store rooms in town. They are completing the job of mov ing today and by the end of the week their store will be in ship-shape. The store room they are vacating will be occupied by the Gastonia Furniture Company, which will thus almost double its floor space. Two archways will be cut adjoining this room with the one they are now oc cupying and the interior will be re painted, refloored and otherwise renovated and remodeled. iRev. R. C. Anderson attended a meeting of the executive committee of the Montreat Association at the Selwyn hotel In Charlotte Friday night. At this meeting plans were discussed for the summer conferen ces at Montreat for the coming sea son and committees appointed to perfect the arranging of programs. Reports showed that the prospects for the summer season of 1910 were most flattering. Other members of the committee present besides Mr. Anderson were Mr. C. E. Graham, of Greenville, S. C; Judge J. D. Mur phy, of Asheville; Mr. J. R. Young, of Raleigh; Dr. Archer and Mr. Frank Jackson, of Montreat; Mr. Henry Belk, of Charlotte; Dr. Hill, of the Eastern part of the State, and Mr. Roddey, of Rock Hill.
