Craig, who has been critically ill at his home in East Gastonia for sev eral days. This section is experiencing to day the largest fall of snow and sleet in five years. Wabch for it. Two more aspirants for office announce themselves in thi3 issue as candidates, viz: Mr. D. P. Dellinger, of Cherryville, for the House of Rep-! resentatives and Mr. G. R. Rhyne, oC Dallas, for sheriff, air. Rhyne has served several years as deputy sheriff in the past and is well posted on the work of this office. He is a hust ling, energetic man and has a large number of friends. Mr. Dellinger is a prominent young attorney of Cher ryville and has had considerable ex perience in public matters. That he would serve the county well in the House goes without saying. Mr. Pleasant Cauble, aged 84, a well-do-do farmer of Rowan county, was found dead in bed at his home Wednesday morning. He was a Confederate veteran. Much interest is manifested in the proposed legislation against dealing in cotton futures in the exchanges. The House Committee on the matter has been hearing arguments from both sides on the question this week. Wednesday the representatives of the cotton producers were heard and yesterday the president of the New York Exchange and other dealers In futures were heard. Mr. W. M. Barber Wednesday sold The Greensboro Patriot to Mr. W. I. Underwood and will more to Cali fornia. The Patriot is one of the oldest newspapers In the South and is a valuable property. Jlr.
