Of this number l' are rural phones and 2 are town phones. Mr. James A. Shuford. n.anager of the Lincolnton exchange, is also manager of the Maiden exchange. Maiden is a pro gressive growing little town and the installation of a modern telephone system is but another evidence of its steady prosperity. Circuit Court of the United' States by the terms of which the Davis heirs are to receive $4,500 and the Southern Railway $2,750, the total being $7,250, ad awarded by a board of appraisers at Gastonia and affirmed by the United States Cir cuit Court. As mentioned In tbe Gazette a few days ago the govern ment has already accepted the sec tion of the park formerly owned by the city and this compromise be tween the Davis heirs and the Southern Kailway closes the matter and the site is now the property of the government.
