A wrong impression may have been obtained by some who read the article in Friday's Gazette under the heading "Oil Takes a Drop." The story was dealing with the local sit uation and hence no mention was made of the fact that the Standard OH Company had, of course, reduc ed the price in every section of the State. It is a matter of common knowledge, we presume, that com pliance with the laws does not allow a discrimination in the sale price of an article in favor of one section of the State as against another. A va riation In freight rates to different points, however, does make a slight difference In the retail price at some places, the margin of profit being the same everywhere In the State. It should have been stated also that this drop of three cents a gallon by the Standard had been made In in stallments covering several months and began before the Indian Refin ing Company located here.
