Mr. Craig is not on ly a safe leader but has an unlimited mnnnt of energy and the party's Interests in Gaston cannot suffer un der his leadership. Col. C. B. Chief Justice Fuller's death leaves a vacancy, the filling of which by President Taft imposes on him a task that calls for the utmost care and consideration. '' On June the 30th the First Na ticnal Bank mailed out to Us stock holders checks representing the usu al renil annual four per cent1 divi dend. ' This dividend was the for tieth paid by this bank, and marked tbe close of Us twentieth fiscal year. It Is a fact well worthy of mention that In the 20 years of its existence the First National Bank has never missed Daring a dividend and bas never paid less than 4 per cent semi annually. Five years ago when the capital stock was Increased a 60 per rent dividend was declared. ' The success of this financial Institution has been remarkable, its growth has been steady and the men who have Unrated and built it ud are justly proud of its record. On July 1st the Clara Mill mail ed out checks to Its stockholders representing a semi-annual dividend of Ave per cent. The Gray Manufacturing Compa ny is this week mailing out checks fo a semi-annual dividend of five per cent. The Flint Manufacturing Compa ny paid Its usual semi-annual divi dend of five per cent July 1st. The Judicial Convention for this district meets Thursday afternoon in tbe opera bouse here, the hour for meeting being about 1:30 o'clock. Because of the intense interest over the district, which is composed of five counties. In this contee for the ollcltorship It is expected that there will be a large crowd in attendance. Tbe number expected Is placed at anywhere from 300 to 500. Gas tonia will take care of the crowd, even if they remain here for a couple of days or longer. OOK! The Judicial Convention meets here Thursday afterneon. Mr. R. E. McFadden, of Spar tanburg, S. C, spent yesterday ar ternoon here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. R. McFadden. Miss Ella May McFadden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Mc Fadden, who has been 111 for the 12.50 In gold given away for the naming of W. H. Dellinger's picture show. The show opens July 6th at six o'clock, when the band begins to play. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jenkins have the sympathy of many friends in the great bereavement they sustained Sunday In the death of their little daughter, Johnsie, aged 21 months. Funeral services were conducted at the home, No. 212 South street, at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon by Rev. W. H. Reddish and Rev. A. S. Anderson, followed by interment in Hollywood Cemetery.
