The Gaston County Farmers Un ion held a business session at Dal las Saturday which was well attend ed. Among other matters of busi ness the union appointed a commit tee to confer with a committee from the Gaston County Rural Letter Car riers Association with reference to selecting a place for holding the an nual fall celebration the first Mon day in September. This committee is composed of Messrs. W. B. Car son, E. P. Lineberger and W. G. Rhyne. Next Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock this committee will hold a Joint meeting with the Gastonia ru ral letter carriers to discuss the matter of holding the celebration in Gastonia. On . Mount Holly Matters. Correspondence of the Gazette. MOUNT HOLLY, July 11. Miss Stella Dellintrer. of Lincolnton, is the Kuest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, this week. Dr. L. L. Nash, after conducting a very successful revival in the Meth odist church, returned Monday morning . to his home in Sanford. Great good was accomplished by the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. John Holland chap eroned a fishing party at the river Monday afternoon. Good luck was with the wholeparty for many fish were caught. The largest fish caught weighed ten pounds. This was caught by Miss Bertha Jenkins, who was, indeed, the moat lucky. It was certainly Mr. R. L. Jenkins' "off day" for much to his dismay, he was not .able to cateh a single one. Those who enjoyed this outing were: Miss es Bertha Jenkins, Mildred Babing- ton and Johnsie Lineberger; Messrs. Loyd Thompson, R. L. Jenkins and P. C. Spence. Rev. S. L. " The Sunday school of St. Mark's Episcopal church went to High Shoals Saturday where the day was spent in a most enjoyable picnic. There was a large crowd, as the Bap tist Sunday school of Lincolnton was also there. Music was furnished by the Clara Concert Band and the High Shoals band, and an excellent picnic dinner was served. Hall entertained last Thursday evening from 8:30 until 11 o'clock in honor of her sister, Miss Annie Fite, of Greensboro. The guests were entertained by a chew ing gum contest in which Miss Mina Lewis won the prize. After the con test delicious refreshments were served consisting of Ice cream and lady fingers. - 'Following the refresh ments were the games of trail and forty-two. The parlor and dining room were beautifully decorated ( with, sweet peas.roses and nastur iums; Mrs. Hall was assisted in en tertaining by Miss Mary HalU while Miss AbWe Hall presided over the punch bowl.
