Refreshing rains fell in and around Gastonia Sunday afternoon. From all reports the rains were pret ty general over the county. They came at a very opportune time as the corn was suffering considerably for moisture. Policeman S. B. Brymer went to Hickory yesterday morning and re turned in the afternoon bringing with him a young white man named Yoder, sentenced to ninety days on the roads. He will be sent to one of the county chain gangs. Thursday is the date for the annual reunion of the Confederate veterans of Gaston county at Dallas. This event always draws a good crowd and this year will not prove an exception. As usual a sumptuous dinner will be served the old soldiers. There will be a Sunday school rally at the Lutheran Chapel church east of town tomorrow, participated In by all the Lutheran Sunday schools in the eounty. Jenkins and two daughters, Mrs. J. V. Harper and Miss Lola Jenkins,' left this morning for Greensboro where they will be joined by Mr. Jenkins, who will come down from Ashevllle.
