Suggs spent Sunday In the city with Mr. Will Francis. Mr. Suggs, is a druggist at Belmont, N. C. Gaffney (S. C.) Ledger. Mr. H. G. Rhyne, of DallaB, and Mr. Monroe Howard, of Iron Station, are visitors to Gastonia today. Mrs. J. P. Stowe and Mrs. R.B. Suggs, of Belmont. N. C, left Wed nesday for their home after spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. Will J. Francis. Gaffney. (S. C.) Ledger. Up to today the enrollment in the city schools was as follows: Cen tral school, 501; mill schools, 167; total white, 662. Colored schools, 300. Grand total, 962. Mr. J. Frank McArver left Tues day on a business trip to Morristown, Tenn. He was accompanied by Miss Lola Davis, who will visit friends at Work to be Rushed on Interurban Car Lines. Charlotte News. If the present plans of the Pied mont Traction Company are carried out, interurban cars will be In oper ation in less than six months between Charlotte, Gastonia. Anderson, Sal isbury and other cities to the north and south carrying freight and pas sengers, propelled by electric power generated by the Southern Power Company, and a new era will have been begun in the history of the in dustrial and commercial progress of the Piedmont section. Mr. W. S. Lee, Jr., the president of the company, has been in New York for about ten days conferring with the other officers and members of the company. In the conference which was held all the details of the construction and operation of the in terurban system were worked out. The work of Mr. Lee while away was the purchase of the electrical equipment and contracts have been let for the entire equipment of the system. A corps of engineers will start to work the first of the week laying out the route from Mount Holly to Charlotte. As soon as the riKht of way is secured and the route defin itely determined, the active work of construction will be begun all along the line. Construction forces will be put at work on all parts of the system and the laying of tracks and erection of transmission lines will be rushed to immediate completion.
