Following Are the Resolutions Adop- ted by the North Carolina Associa tion for the Prevention of Tuber cultwis in SosKion at Greensboro March 15-10: Whereas tuberculosis Is known to be communicable, curable, and pre ventable; and Whereas, at present, the loss .to society in deaths and In money Jus tifies a concerted effort on the part of the public: Resolved, That the attendance at the North Carolina Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis calls to the attention of all religious bod ies and business organizations, man ufacturers and employers, the great need of the popular enlightenment of the citizens of the State and for In stitutions for the cure of unfortunate sufferers, and recommends that the representatives from the various counties of North Carolina be in structed to pay especial attention to the enactment of such legislation as will aid to provide for an adequate appropriation to provide for the es tablishment and maintenance of such institutions, and that every legiti mate organization of the State lends its co-operation to wage a campaign for the results commensurate with our needs. Be it further resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the religious bodies, trade and busi ness organizations, and leading pa pers of the State, and that every board of trade and chamber of com merce be requested to adopt resolu tions expressing the desire of their various communities, and publicly request the representatives of their respective communities, when elect ed, to vote for an adequate appro priation to aid In preventing and curing tuberctilar patients through out the State, when the next General Assembly convenes In Raleigh in 19TL. SECOND ANNUAL CONVENTION OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACH IAN GOOD ROADS CONVENTION. The second annual convention of the Southern Appalachian Good Roads Convention will be held at Knoxville, Tenn., on October 5 and 6, 1910. This will be one of the more important good roads conven tions to be held in the South during the year and large . delegations are expeoted from the six States, Vir ginia, North Carolina, South Caro lina, Georgia, and Kentucky, which are interested in the Association. The program for the Convention has not been fully completed, but the delegates to this Convention and others interested in good roads can rest assured that a most interesting program will be arranged, which will include discussions of various problems pertinent to the construc tion and maintenance' of our public roads, such as location, grade drain age, surfacing materials, culverts, dust preventatives, tar and asphalt macadam, use of convicts in public road construction, wide tires, etc. The Governors of the six States Interested in the Convention have been asked to make addresses and will be invited to attend the Conven tion as guests of the City of Knox vllle. All of them will not be able to be present, but the Governors of South Carolina. Tennessee, and Ken tucky hare signified their Intentions to be present and the Governor of North Carolina may be able to ar range his engagements so as to be present All the Governors of these six States are strong good roads ad- rocates and are ready to assist in ev- ry -way possible the extension of the good roads movement throughout the Southern Appalachian region.
