DAVENPORT Kin Geo nee has his Canadian subjects aomewhat wrought up over the text of a cablegram which he re cently Jt to the Governor-General at Ottawa. In which they think the King asserted that the Canadian volunteer forces are an Integral part of the Imperial army. This queation arise periodically but fortunately has never been put to a severe test The exact relation of the Dominion to the crown haa never been accur ately defined but as the decades paas it becomes more and more evident that any very strict drawing of the reins of empire by the British sov ereign would be very likely to result in Canadian independence. According to Dr. Hamilton Smith, a priest of the morman church, the Morman body as a whole ie to leave Utah and settle In Mexico, where they have bought 50.000 acres of land In the State of Coahuila. The Mormons already own a tract of 65, 000 acres adjoining the new pur chase and have a well-established college there. The most astonishing part of their claim, however, ie that President Diaz has assured the Church that polygamy and all other practices of the Church will be per mitted without interference in Mex ico. Since the admission of Utah in to the Union as a State the Mormans have claimed that they had abandon ed the practice of polygamy, but their claim has never been given full credence by thoughtful people. Their move to Mexico would indicate that they still adhere, or wish to adhere, to their former practices, and such being the case, the United States Is well rid of a national nuisance.
