Throughout the Carollnas the Boost discussed topic is the Flying Machine Exhibition which will be Siren under the direction of The Charlotte News, at Charlotte, N. C, em Thursday, November 10th. Since the Wright Brothers made their first successful fljght among the sand hills of North Carolina, 'in llfll, the subject of aerial narlga Uea baa occupied the brightest sci atlflc minds or the world, and their weederfal achievements in conquer ing the air have been read with the deepest interest everywhere. Never, until now, have the citi zens of this state, in which the first successful flight was made, had a chance to witness the thrilling spec tacle of a man-operated machine fly ing among the clouds with the grace and confluence of a bird. Now, through the enterprise of The News It will be possible for the people of the Carollnas to see the most perfect type of flying machine, the Curtlss Bi-plane, operated by a skillful and daring aviator at Charlotte, on No vember 10th. Application has been made to all the railroads for special rates for this day, and admission to the exhi bition has been placed at a nominal Price, 60 cents, so that people far and near may be able to attend this wonderful exhibition at a very small expense. It has been arranged that the first flight will be made at 2 P. M., so that people living at a distance will have ample time to reach Charlotte and not miss any part of the splen did spectacle. Col. Mosby to go on Lecture Plat form. Washington Dispatch. Col. John S. Mosby, the -noted Confederate cavalry leader, who was dismissed last summer from the De partment of Justice on the grounds, rt was stated, of senility and Incom petence, has Just closed a contract with a prominent lecture bureau to deliver under Its direction a series of IS lectures In prominent cities and towns of New England, telling. at first hand, of his experiences dur ing the civil war. Except for one or two lectures delivered 20 years ago, Colonel Mosby has never appeared upon the lecture platform. It la learned that he will receive 1200 for each lecture, and that, after the course Is completed In New England, it will probably be extended to' the middle and western States. - Mr. W. W. McLean, of Waynes- Tboro, Vs., spent Sunday and Monday In Gastonia. The admission to the Floral Pair will be ten cents.
