Minter, pastor of the Lincolnton Presbyterian church, will deliver a lecture on his travels In the Holy Land. C, came up last night on a short visit to his father, Mr. R. A. Caldwell. The city schools will resume work Monday after having . had Thanksgiving holiday since last Wednesday. Pays 5 per cent on Certificates of Depos it." It is a gift which any one would appreciate. Mr. P. S. Beam, of Cherryville township, spent Monday and Tues day nights here with his son, Mr. A. E. Beam, returning home Wednes day. He was attending court at Dallas, being a member of the Jury. Mr. Beam was a pleasant caller at The Gazette office while here. Mr. S. N. Craig, of South Point township, has purchased a farm in York county, South Carolina, about two miles from Tirzah station and expect 8 to move within the next two Wr.eks to his new home. Gaston county loses a good citizen, York county gains a good one. The new building of the Gas ton Iron Works on East Air Line avenue. Is getting wfell along to wards completion and the company expects to commence moving with in the next few days. The building which the iron works vacate will be used by the owners, the Messrs. Beal, as a warehouse. , : Lebovlts department store is being moved into the firm's hand some new building on Mala avenue, which baa Just been completed. For the past several months they have been occupying on of the store rooms in the Adams' building next to Kennedys drug store. This firm's new building is a handsome two-story brick structure. The en tire ground floor Is occupied by the department store while the second floor will be rented for offices, etc His many friends here will be interested to learn that Mr. J. Oscar Abernethy, an old Gastonia boy. Is now city editor of The Dally Okla homan at Oklahoma City, Okla. For the past six or seven years Mr. Abernethy lias been doing newspa per work In Norfolk, Va., on The Landmark and The Times-Dispatch. He went to Oklahoma two months ago. "Os" Is an experienced and hustling newspaper man and will make good in the West. Thursday's Charlotte Chronicle says: Mrs. Earl s. Pegram and daughters, Misses Winifred and Martha Pegram, of Statesville, who have been spending ten days here visiting relatives, have gone to Gas tonia to be the guests of Mr. Pe gram's mother, Mrs. M. C. Pegram, for a few days. Mr. Pegram joined them there last night. Mrs. Pe- gram's many friends will be glad to learn that she will return to Char lotte Saturday to spend a few days longer.
