Now on Waiting List of Forty-Seven Public Building Belongs Ahead of Them,- According to Promise, and Congressman K.vpects to Bo Able to Give Definite Information as to When Work Will Itegin at F.arly Date. The building not the job is the subject of this paragraph. While at Kings .Mountain Tuesday The t;a- zette man inquired of Congressman Webb as to the exact status of Gas tonia's proposed postoffice building and gives the information to its readers, the majority of them nav ing been anxiously awaiting some news with reference to it. .Mr. Webb says that at present the Gastonia building is one of 47 which constitute a waiting list but tnat it got there through a mistake in the Treasury Department and. he expects, very soon after his return to Wash ington to secure its advancement from this waiting list to its rightful position ahead of them. Mr. Webb says 'that before he ask ed for an increase of $20,000 which additional appropriation ne secured he had the promise of the Treasury Department and the super vising architect's office that Gasto nia would not lose Its position on the list by reason of the request Tor an additional sum. He has called the attention of these officials to their promise and is assured that Gastonia will be replaced In her proper position on the list. If these promises are kept and Mr. Webb does not anticipate any trouble in holding the department to them he believes that he can at a very early date give us some definite idea as to Just when work . will be commenced on the struc ture.
