V First VLsit la Twenty Tears. Mr. John D. . Lindsay, cemetery keeper, went to Charlotte 'yesterday to Inspect the cemetery at that place and took with him Policeman Ben W. Craig. This was the first visit Mr. Craig had paid Charlotte In over twenty years. It was his first trip over the lnternrban. He was, of course, astonished at the growth of Charlotte and of all the towns be tween here and Charlotte. Mow that ha has broken his record. It is prob able that Mr. Craig will vialt Char lotte again before a great while. T. P. A. Elects Officers. At a meeting of Post P Travelers Protective Association held Saturday aight in the offices of the Shuford Company, officers for the ensuing term were chosen as follows: G. H. Marvin, president; C. T. Brown, first vice-president; J. M. Shuford, second viee-president; J. R. Shuford, secre tary and treasurer. The following committees were also appointed: Railroads, J. O. Rankin ; press, H. B. Moore; hotels, W. H. Wray; legisla tive, W. J, Clifford; employment, C. B. Armstrong; good roads, Lee L. Crison; membership, C. T. Brown. Rev. H. H. Jordan was elected chap lain. Delegates were chosen to the State convention, which is to be held , at "Henderson in May, as follows: J. R. Shuford and G. H. Marvin, with G.yr. Howell and W, J. Clifford as alternates. In addition to transact ing business the members of the post enjoyed a smoker. There was a good attendance. The members of the choral of the Music Club, assisted by a number of selected male voices, are prepar ing to give a rendition of the sacred cantata "Ruth," by A. R. Gaul sometime the latter part of this month or he first of May. Mr. H. A. Stlrewalt has been secured as director and. rehearsals are held every Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Gastonia music lovers have a treat in store for them tonight in the concert to be given at he Cen tral school audlorium by the Qeuen's College Choral Club of Charlotte. It begins at 8 o'clock. The proceeds will be for the benefit of the Gas tonia High School Baseball Team. The general admission fee will be 5 cents and tickets may be secured at Kennedy's or Torrence's. It is to be hoped that a large number will attend thia concert. Several Gas tonia girls, students at Queen's Col lege, are members of the club and will appear on the program. J Lauds Sold Well. Mr. W. W. Faires returned today to his home near Rock Hill. S. C, after spending several days here on business. While here Mr. Faires sold three tracts of timber land near Crowders Mountain, as follows: A tract of 66 acres to Messrs. J. C. Stroup and W. A. Carpenter; 32 acres to Mrs. Hullender, of. West Gastonia; 41 acres to Mr. R. Hope Brison. The price in each case was $40 per acre. Mr. Faires has an ad vertisement in the classified column offering the Caledonia gold mine tract for sale at the same price per acre. Increase in Postal Receipts. Receipts at the local postofflce show a gratifying Increase. Post master John R.
