Looks like our cotton mill men have about decided to take The Charlotte Observer's advice and make it an even hundred before they quit. The number now-stands somewhere in the seventies. With three cotton mill buildings to go up at once together with the tenant houses and other structures that go with them, a seven-story bank building, two new $25,000 school houses and scores of residen ces in course of construction, Gasto nia, it can be truthfully said, is a "busy town", or city, if you please to call it such. Franse, whose ad dress is West Point, Nebr.. Box 411. ' has written to the Pinus laboratories a Tery strong endorsement of Fruit ola and Traxo. In her letter Mrs. Franse says: "About ten years ago I was about to undergo an operation for gall-stones when I heard of your medicine. Dreading an operation above everything I determined to try Fmitola and Traxo and have nev er been sorry I did so, as 1 have nev er been troubled with gall-stones since." Fruitola is a powerful lubricant for the intestinal organs, and one dose is usually sufficient to give am ple evidence of its efficacy. It soft ens the congested masses, disinte grates the hardened particles that occasion so mucn sunering, and expels the accumulated waste to the great relief of the patient. Following a dose of Fruitola, Traxo 6hould be taken three or four times a day in order to rebuild and restore the sys tem that has been weakened and run down by constant suffering. It is a splendid tonic, acting on the liver and stomach most beneficially. Fruitola and Traxo are prepared in the Pinus laboratories at Monti celio. 111., and arrangements have been made to supply them through rep resentative druggists. In Gastonia they can be obtained at J. L. Adams Drag Store, opposite new postoffice. I r wi v photo bvt-. During the past few weeks literally millions of dollars worth of fine timber has gone up in smoke, timber that it will re quire years to replace by natural growth. Something has been done towards forest preservation, both from the hungry flames and the still hungrier lumberman, but little more than a mere start has been made. This conservation work is worth spending much more money on than has yet been appropriated for it. TODAY'S POEM THE BETTER THING. Edgar A. Guest, in Detroit Free Press. It is better to lose with a conscience clean Than to win by a trick unfair; It is better to fail, and to know you've been. Whatever the prize was, square. Than to claim the joy of a far-off goal And the cheers of the standerby, And to know down deep in your in most soul A cheat you must live and die. Who wins by trick may take the prize. And at first he may think it sweet. But many a day in the future lies When he'll wish he had met de feat. For the man who lost shall be glad at heart And walk with his head up high. While his conqueror knows he must play the part Of a (heat and a living lie. The prize seems fair when the fight is on, Hut, save it is truly won. You will hate the thing when the crowds are gone. For it stands for a false deed done. And it's better you never should reafh your goal Than ever success to buy At the price ot Knowing down in your soul That your ;ory is all a lie. 3 One 5-roora cottage, modern H conferences, close in. $15 permonui.
