No one likes to be told that their methods are wrong wunout being told wny or given a remedy. It is like walking in the dark after being told, that you were going in the wrong .direction withoutbelng instructed as to tne proper way to go. "Some mill men are satisfied with certain results while others ' are never vsatlsfied. The strictest men are usually the easiest satisfied be cause they understand their business and always explain just what :s wanted. 1 know of other men who never give any instructions, but al ways, find fault, but unless pinned right down will never commit them selves. Men under them ate never sure that they are right. and always have the feeling that whatever tuey do he 'will find fault anyway. We all must work in harmony and -mm. You cannot work spite work in any de partment of a mill and it shpuld not De tolerated oy anyone. , "Every overseer or section man should consider himself as a part of the company for which be works just as much so as one of the stock holders, even ' more-so, because tne stockholders cannot get a dividend unless the mill makes a profit, but we get our dividend or wages even If the mill does not make a pront. Our dividends or wages will Increase in proportion with our ability to in crease the dividends to the stock holders. They invest money, we in vest our labor or knowledge and our ability. And the greater our know- ledge and ability the greater will e our profits. We must nut on our thinking caps and set our wns to work, investigate and learn, experi ment and find out. You must show your ability and willingness to uo things before you can succeed. You will not get promoted unless you give satisfaction on the position- you now have. Anyone that Is careless With little things will never be trust ed with greater responsibilities. Don't try to put something over on the other fellow and if the other fellow puts off some bad work on you, go and tell him about it. Don't run to the superintendent, but give him a chance to correct the trouble and if he does not show a willingness to try to stop it, then go to the superintendent and let him decide -who is at. fault. "This reminds me of a little joke I want to relate. Two overseers were in an argument about a certain defect in their mill and what caused it. They could not agree on the cause. They saw a friend coming up tne street and he too being an overseer they decided to get his opinion. They told him their trouble ana asked his opinion. He said 'I do not wish to give my opinion.' When asked wiry he replied that he and Bill, tne overseer In the card room, had done thrashed that question out. What did you arrive at was asked. "Well. I arrived at the hospital and Bill ar rived at the police station." i'Now, gentlemen, when the other fellow makes a complaint aboui some bad work don't get mad like Bill did but get after the trouble and remedy it, don't think that the other ;cdL p resent position because be is a- fraW that he will do something that he is not getting pay for will never climb the ladder of success. "We all start out with high ideals, buC.it takes ambition to succeed. Some fall by the wayside. Strive on, don t Tall back. Don t backslide like the tramp who called at the farm house for a lunch. The farmer formed him that he didn't feed worthless tramps. The tramp re plied that he was a christian gentle man. The farmer asked for proof. The tramp showed the knees of bis pants where he had worn them put praying. The farmer gave him jis lunch and as the tramp started off the farmer noticed that the rear side of his pants were worn also and ask ed the reason. The tramp replied that he did that backsliding. Now the best way for you gentlemen to keep from backsliding is to not sit around on your job ilntil you wear the seat out of your pants, but keep on the move all the time. Don't let the grass rrrow under your feet, but always remember that., eternal push is the price of success and we must all work in harmony and all work together for one object and one aim FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS WK HAVE BKEN DOING A STRICTLY CASH BUSINESS. 1URING ALL THESE YEARS WE RAVE SENT GOODS OUT ON APPROVAL IN OUR EFFORTS TO GIVE THE PUBLIC AND ESPECIALLY OUR RKGULAH CUSTOMERS THE BEST POSSIBLE SERVICE.
