Club Meets in Home
Of Mrs. Cherry
Mrs. Walter T. Cherry’s home
was the meeting place of the
Mount Olive Garden club on Tues
day afternoon. Co-hostesses were
Mrs. H. M. Cox and Mrs. Oscar
White.
Attractive arrangements which
decorated the home were submit
ted by Mrs. Willie Hood, Mrs. J.
A. Wolfe, Mrs.' Jennings Price, Mrs.
W. A. Patterson and Mrs. R. B.
Warren.
The social^ hour preceded the
business session. Hostesses, assist
ed by Miss Starkey Cherry and Mrs.
Sam Byrd, served pecan pies top
ped with whipped cream, cheese
straws and coffee.
Mrs. Luby Bell, president, con
ducted the business session. Vari
ous committee reports were sub
mitted. Mrs. W. B. Raper present
ed plans for landscaping of Mount
Olive college grounds and the
club voted a donation of $200 to
ward purchase of shrubbery and
trees for this project.
Mrs. Walter Cherry and Mrs.
R. B. Warren of the project and
tree committees, announced that
persons who are interested in
purchase of trees for planting are
asked to contact them or other
members of the committee.
Mrs. J. A. Wolfe of the Therapy
committee reported that arrange
ments were given to shut-ins and
hospitals at Christmas.
Mrs. Robert' Holmes presented
an interesting program for the
meeting, using as her topie, “Land
scaping and Beautification.” At the
conclusion of Mrs. Holmes’ talk,
each member mentioned an attrac
tive spot of beauty in’ town, and
other places were mentioned which
could be beautified with special
planting.

church met last week as follows:
The Afternoon circle with Mrs.
J. W. Warren Wednesday. Mrs. P.
G. Adams presided and conducted
the devotional. Mrs. Harold Minor
and Mrs. A. F. Rector presented
the program.
The Evening circle met Tues
day with Mrs. C. H. Millard. As
sisting hostesses were Mrs. Janibel
Bass and Mrs. Y. T. Wilson. Mrs.
Wilson presided. Mrs. Bass was in
charge of the devotional; and Mrs.
W. R. Clifton presented the pro
gram.

her piano pupils in a mid-term
recital at her home last Thursday.

Nancy Dail gave a reading on
old Christmases, after which the
entire group sang, “The 12 Days of
Christmas,” accompanied at the
piano by Cliff Phillips. A piano du

concluded this part of the pro
gram.
Since this month is the 200th
anniversary of Mozart’s birth, Pin
ky Loftin. gave a reading on the
life of the musician, followed by
the playing of “Magic Bells” from
the opera, “Magic Flute,” and
“MinUet and Violet,” by two Sev
en Springs students, Geraldine
Strickland and Barbara Herring.
This, was followed by the play
ing of the recording of “Ah Bous
DiraiJe, Maman,” as recorded by
Guymaier.

serving refreshments.
