Notice of Land Sale.

Raeford, is. C., July 28, iil21.
If it costs out of proportion to
the benetits being derived, better
invest less in that enterprise-
This defines our attitude toward
both schools and roads-
We should feel a just pride
in the citizenship of Hoke. The
wave of crime sweeping the
world since the great war has
not effected the tranquility of a
homogeneous people.
Currency is the blood of the
business of the country, the
treasury department is its heart,
the banks serve as valves, ven-
trecalr, arteries, capilariea, and
veins, and if any poitonous sub
stances, like gre^, gets, into this
s^teni so as to impair them they
cease to function well, and that
is the tr^ublo now.
That there is near distress, a
semi-famine, is becoming a well
. known and an acknowedged fact
now. President Harding has be
come alarmed by reports of suf-
fering through out the country,
and wants an investigation. The
Journal has been sounding the
^arm for months past, and is
a fool, a calamity howler for his
pains. Right here ip this coun
try people are not well fed, that
is to say many are underfed.
The malefactors of great
wealth are responsible for this
“semi-famine” conditions we are
having, but it may be so arrang
ed through the government to
supply the money needed by the
country independent of the
great banks and corporations
The War Finance Corpuration
promises money to aid farmers
to gather and market their crops,

opertltive Marketing Association,

well established everywhere, bui

organization can effect a change
