It eally is foolish to expend so much in development of niere animals If man is not immortal it’s a waste to improve him. But he IS more. Increase his capacity for a higher existence ! Yes, evolution theories aren’t new. They are nearly as old as sin. A man is better than a hog, or worse. This depends upon whether he follows his natural inclinations, or seek higher plane NOTICE—Beginning Aug. li all repair work and parte wf be STRICTLY CASH. H. A. PAGE, JB. A man who fails to accumu late wealth is considered to be a failure in the eyes of the busi ness world, still a poor man may be very essential to the welfare of a community even where very successful business men reside. It takes all degrees of success. THE WAY OF IT. It is stated that of the more than four million children that enter the public schools of this country each year, about half of them fall to reach second grade. These are called “repeaters,” and cost extra from $72 to $80 year, because of this failure to pass. So, this causes a great loss in time. We are privileged to think why this is so. Teachers of the day charge it to defective children. We believe it due to books, teach ing methods and crowded school rooms. The books here are too hard for beginners. Children are taught by word method, so they are trained, to guess at the lesson, and to rely upon outside help. And, teachers have too many pupils to give each the personal attention they must have to make satisfactory prog ress. If more simple texts are used by beginners, and if from the very first they are train^ to re ly upon their own efforts, and teachers are never assigned more than twenty five pupils, many of these apparent mental defects will disappear.
