istrator, has announced plans for
state-wide preliminary aiiditions to
be held during the month of Febru
ary for Leopold Stokowski’s All-
American youth Orchestra.
Under an agreement which has
teen worked out by Aubrey Williams,
National Youth Administrator, and
the -noted conductor, state and local
offices of the«National Youth Ad-
muiistration will receive applications
from talented young musicians and
arrange for the preliminary auditions,
to which five of the best musicians
in each state will be selected.
Mr. Stokowski himself will make
a nation-wide tour starting March 4
from Hollywood to conduct the final
'auditions, in which he wiU select
the 100 members of the orchestra.
Thia orchestra of “musical ambas
sadors” will make a tour of cities in
Canada, Mexico and the United
States, starting in May.
The great interest- aroused in the
musical talents of young people
through OTA recruitment of the first
Stokowski youth orchestra last win
ter, and the success of the orch
estra’s tour of Latin-American cities.
Was given by Mr. Williams' as the
reaston for this new- activity.
A uniform application form is be-
mg sent to all local OTA offices and
are now available to all applicants.

Washington office for the positions

ing dates specified. Where two dates
are given, the first applies to appU-
cations received from states east of
Colorado, the second to those from
Colorado and states westward. The
salary in each case is subject to a
8% per cent retireifient deduction.
Inspector (subsistence supplies),
various grades, with salaries ranging
from $1,620 to $2,600 a year, Quar
termaster Corps, War Department.
Applications will be rated as yec
ceived until further notice.
Assistant home economist, $2,600 a
year, in the following fields: "Food
economics, Clothing economics, family
economics, family economics ■writer,5
and assistant in home economics in
formation. Home economics special
ist in food utilization, various grades,
with salaries from $2,600 to $4,600 a
year. Associate home economist in
food economics or family'economics,
and associate ih food composition,
$3,200 a year, Closing dates are Feb-
ruauy 17 and 20, 1941.
