Miss Sarah Cameron, sister of the bride, organist, and Miss Margaret Cameron of Olivia, soloist, presented a program of wed^ng music. Before the ceremony Miss Cameron played “The "flosary” and “Ah Sweet Mys tery of Life.” The soloist sang “Lib- iestraum” and “I Love You Truly.” faditional wedding marches were MISS MAST HELEN GATLIN. HAS HOUSE PASTY. Miss Mary Helen Gatlin entertain ed several of the Meredith college friends at her home in Raeford the past weekend. The three seniors from Meredith with Mary Helen were Misses Bettie Clingan, Addie Davis and Mildred Ancue. Miss Elm- ma Barker, another former Meredith girl who~teaches at Shallotte, came to Raeford with Mr. and Mrs. Marion Gatlin and l^iss Hall of the Raeford school faculty also joined the parj^. They had a very me'rry time, visited Fort Bragg and returned to Raleigh Sunday flight. ^ ~ liters were Herbert Cameron of Raleigh, brother of the bride, and ' Russell Thomas of Sanford, cousin of the bride. The bridegroom was at tended by Bill Reidell of Fort Bragg. Miss Idell Thomas, of Sanford, was maid of honor. The bride entered with her father, D. M. Cameron, by whom she wa^ given in marriage, The bride wore an early spring cos tume suit of aqua wool with gray squirrel collar. Her accessories were black. Hir shoulder corsage was of sweetheart roses and lilies of tfte val ley. Following the ceremony a recep tion was held at the home of Mrs. Pearl Thomas on Carthage street in Sanford. Immediately after the cere mony the bridal couple left for i short wedding trip. Mrs. Grant is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Cameron, route 2, Vass, Hoke county. She attended Louisburg college. For the past sev eral years she has been employed in the County Agent’s Office in Raeford. Mr. Grant is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Grant of Warrenville, Ill. Since his induction into the United States army he has been stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C. Those attending the wedding from Raeford were Mrs. Chandler Roberts, Misses Sarah Ella Conoly, Josephine Hall and Louise Blue. Jake Austin,. U. S. N., stationed at Wilmington and Miss Frances Ing ram, of Norwood, were in Raeford for a short while Sunday. * « • * Boz Bethune, of the Bellamy Drug Co., Wilmington, spent Sunday in Raeford. • • * • Mrs. Ben Huckaby, of Hamlet, and Mrs. Lloyd Stanton spent a few days at Portsmouth and Norfolk with friends. Mrs. Lewis Regan Kingsport, Tenn., Regan’s parents. Rev. C. Brown. and son, of are visiting Mrs. and Mrs. W. MARSHALL THOMAS ^^^ERTAINS BRIDGE CLUB. Mrs. Marshall Thomas entertained le old bridge club (old because first jiqne organized in town; age of mem bers having nothing to do with it, of course) at her home Friday evening, Three t|^les of bridge .were in play, wtth three visitors playing. These were Mrs. Julian Blue, Mrs. Alfred Cole ahd Mrs. Arab Stuart. After enjoying the game for several hours a salad plate with hot coffee was ^ved. High score club prize was^on by Mrs. Paul Dickson and visitor’s prize by Mrs. Alfred Cole, Rockfish Sdiool News Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Collier and two children, Bobby and Isabel, of Statesville, spent the weekend with Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Brown. * * • « Mrs. J. ■ W. McLauchlin and Mrs. H. C. McLauchlin taught the mission study at the Brownson Memorial Presbyterian. church in Southern Pines Sunday night. • * * • Mrs. Ola Smith continues seriously ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Covington, over the weekend. Miss Mary Ellen Thomas, of Duke, spent the weekend at home. C., is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. McFadyen. She was form erly Miss Frances McFadyen. Tuesday evening, Tebruary 10, the Rnpkflah Parent-Teachers association observed Founders’ Day with an ap propriate program. After the devotional, Mrs. Z. G. Ray gave a talk on “l^y We Keep Fotmders’ Day.” “My Tribute” was sUng by a group of high school girls, after which the Candle Lighting Ser vice was presented by the following ladies: Mesdames Marshall Newton, president of the P.-T.' A., Claude Wood, Allan Wood, Mack MacDoug- al, M. S. Gibson, Mary Mott, P. C. English, and Miss Walta Townsend. At the conclusion of the program, the hospitality committee served cake and coffee. / _____ * One hundred and nine new books have been added to our library this year. OWN NEW BIKES John Dune McNeill and Dee Aus tin have recently purchased new bicycles. Mrs. Arah Stewart presented her piaho pupils in a program at the chapel assembly, Friday morning, February 6. Those taking part were: Patricia Ritter, Elizabeth Parker, Er ma Ray. Betty Jean Wood, Lena Tjn: rell, Sarah N. McKeithan, and Be atrice Haire. The pupils of the first and second grades rendered a very interesting and entertaining Valentine program Friday morning, February 13th. We are glad to learn that Mrs. Stuart, our piano teacher, has re covered from a recent attack of in fluenza and is,able to be out again. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY MEETING. The American Legion Auxiliary met with Mrs. Dave Hodgin and Mrs. Julian Blue at the home of Mr^. Blue yesterday (Wednesday) morn ing. Mrs. Herbert McKeithan, presi dent, was in the chair. Much business was discussed and plans made. The Auxiliary thinks that probably there are women among the army personnel and others in Raeford who would be interested in joining or meeting with the Auxil iary. They are cordially invited to do so and the next meeting will be ith Mrs. Hallie Gatlin on March 18. s. Arthur Matheson, Jr., was ap- inted to represent the American gion Auxiliary in Civilian Defense brk and to cooperate with the com- ittee whenever needed. AMINADE MUSIC CLUB S BUSINESS MEETING. Sie Chaminade club held its annual meeting on Tuesday after- nottn at the home of Mrs. John Walk er, .•with Mrs. Walker and Mrs. John McGoogan hostesses. Mrs. R. L. Murray, president, whose term expires with this meeting, was in the chair. A new president was not eelcted at this time. After the current business the fhonthly music study was conducted by Mrs. Gra ham Dickson. The hostesses served a salad plate which was very much enjoyed. . There was not a large mumber presifnt as the strenuous activities at this time of so many of the members keep them from attending in the af ternoons. E. J. Following luncheon a brief business meeting was held and the following officers were elected: pres- idenjt, Mrs. Robert Conk; vice-presi dent, Mrs. Billie Fuller; secretary- treasurer, Mrs. Rasrmond Maness.
