Currie was at home to a large number of friends. When the guests arrived they were seated on the porch, in the living room and in the den. Later they were invited into the dining room. From an attractively arranged table a delicious buffet supper was served. After supper the party divided in to groups and enjoyed an hour or more of congenial enversation. Mrs. Currie's sisters, Mrs. Hugh Lowe, of Charlotte, Mrs. Ina Bethune and Miss Maude Poole assisted her in enter taining. O Mrs. Ina Bethune, who is taking a course in Library Work at Appalach ian Teachers' College at Boone, came home last Wednesday for a few days between summer semesters. She re turned to Boone Sunday, going as far as Charlotte with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lowe. Miss Mary Lib McBryde was at home for the weekend. She had just returned from a vacation spent at Virginia Beach. Laurie McEachem and Miss Ruth McCullough of Raleigh, and Captain and Mrs. Paul Dickson were dinner guests of Mrs. John MpNeill Sunday. Mrs. Paul Dickson and Paul, III, are spending this week with Mrs. McNeill at the McEachem home. Miss Christiana McFayden is spend ing the summer in Mexico City, Mex ico, where she is doing reseach work. Mrs. H. L. Gatlin, Jr., and Leon re turned home Monday night from a visit to Mayport, Florida. Boz Bethune of Wilmington spent bunday in Raeford. O Misses Noni Talley and Nick Bevan returned Sunday from Camden, N. J., and New York where they spent sev eral days with Miss Talley's brother. D. F Talley, Jr Misses Ruth and Margaret Lytle are spending this week in Detroit where they are visiting their sister, Miss Martha Lytle, stationed there with a Signal Corps unit of the Army. Miss Athole Johnson of Collins wood, Tenn. and Captain Malloy La mont were married in the Presbyter ian Church in Florence Alabama, on Friday. July 9th. They came to Kae ford Sunday to visit Capt Lamont's parents. They and Mr. and Mrs. Will Lamont then went to Charleston and Fort Moultrie for a visit to Capt. and Mrs. Bill Lamont.. O I). M. Davis of Davis's Five, Ten & 25ct Stjre is in Richmond on a buy ing trip this week. Israel Mann is in New York buying Fall goods for his store. Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Davis took their young son, Donnie to Highsmith's Hospital last Wednesday. His tonsils were rerr oved Friday and they return ed to Raeford Sunday. Little Donnie has had much trouble with his throat this summer. Mrs. J. W. McLauchlin is spending the summer at Montreat. Lt. Graham McFadyen U. S. N. R. and Mrs. McFadyen stopped in Rae ford for a short visit Saturday. They were enroute to Newport News from a visit to Lt. McFadyen's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Archie McFadyen in Mor ganton. Lt. McFadyen was married to Miss Ruth Tenney of Philadelphia on June 25th. They will be stationed at Newport News for the present. Misses Nick Bevan. Peggy McFyd en, Noni Talley and Louise Bevan spent several days last week at Ocean Drive, S. C. O Mrs. Marshall Thomas Dinner Hostess Mrs. Marshall Thomas entertained her close friends on Tuesday ev ening at her country home with a dinner party followed by bridge. Beautiful flowers adorned the rooms thrown en suite. A delicious dinner, for which covers were laid for sixteen, was very much enjoyed. The remainder of the evening was spent in playing contract Mrs. Donald Davis was awarded the prize for making high score and Mrs. Buck Blue received a going-away gift. This proved to be one of the most delightful of the many social af fairs of the season. Mrs. Donald Muller honored her lit tie niece, Gloria Jane Hughes on her sixth birthday, last week, with a de lightful party. Eight little guests en joyed an afternoon of games and re freshments which consisted of cake and ice crearr). Captain and Mrs. Andreson have as their guests their mother who arrived from Iowa Tuesday. Mrs. Andreson will visit here for about three weeks and Mrs. Bates expects to remain here until the middle of October. Captain and Mrs. K. Thq Dooleys, after having lived here and marie many friends for the past two and a half years, left Kaeford Monday for their home in Sycamore, Mich, where Mrs. Dooley and Michael will stay for the time be ing. Mrs. Dooley had just retired as President of the Officers' Wives Club. Lt. Col. and Mrs. Ralph Patterson, Sr. are visiting here this week with their son and daughter-in-law, Capt. and Mrs. Patterson. Jr. and will re turn to Macon, Ga. Saturday. At the last Officers' Wives' meeting Mrs. Don Muller was elected president to take Mrs. Dooley 's place. The next meeting of July 29th will be held in Mrs. Giles' home at 1:30 o'clock with Mrs. Will Evans and Mrs. Orville Bradley acting as hostesses. RATION BOARD Notice on Used Truck Sales. Effec tive April 2ti, 1943, all sales on used commercial vehicles, whether by a private owner or dealer are covered by OPA regulation No. 341. No sale can be made at a price higher than the price provided for under the reg ulation. Coupon Endorsement Rules Steps to assure maximum protection a gainst misuse of gasoline rationing coupons have been taken in ordering that all motorist and other gasoline users are required to endorse in ink on the face of their ration stamps the license number at the time of receipt of the renewal rations. The new method of handling gasoline rations will begin July 22 at which time not only the stamps in new ration books must be endorsed, but all coupons po ssessed on that date must likewise be so inscribed. The OPA order is regarded as sure fire check on misuse of coupons by persons other than those to whom is sued, particularly in the case of lost books. The regulations does not per tain to interchangeable books issued for official or fleet vehicles. Failure to write in the proper notation on all outstanding stamps by July 22 will re suit in the loss of further gasoline ra tions.
