MRS. ROBERT GATLIN
ENTERTAINS AT BRIDGE
Mrs. Roberf Gatlin entertain
ed at bridge at her home on the
Laurinburg road on Tuesday
afternoon honoring Miss Florence
Anita Lester, bride-elect.
The living and dining rooms
were decorated with green and
white lowers. The dining table
' was covered with a white lace
cloth and centered with a bride
holding a minature bouquet.
On arrival guests were served
a delicious ice course with mints
and salted nuts followed by demi-tasse,
after which bridge was
played at three tables. Mrs. Neill
Senter was awarded high score
prize.
The hostess remembered Miss
Lester with a gift, and Miss
Gladys Baurom, bride-elect of
this month, w;is also presented
a gift.

4-H CLUB MEETS
FIPPINGER- FREEMAN
On Thursday, November 21,
the 4-H club held its first meet
ing at the Hoke High school.
Miss Hall and Mr. Knowles pre-
sided over the meeting. After
singing several 4-H songs the
following officers were ejected:
president, Florence Cameron;
vice-president, Thomas McFad
yen; secretary-treasurer, Sarah
Frances Currie; song leader, Jean
McNeill; news reporter, Betty
McFadyen.
After the election plans were
discussed for a party which will
be held sometimes in December.

Miss KathJeen Freeman, only
daughterof Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Freeman, became the bride of
Cpl. Nicholas M. Fippinger, son
of Mrs. Etta Mills of Staten
Island, N. Y., in a quiet cere
mony last Sunday afternoon at
five o'clock. The wedding was
solemnized at the 325th Glider
Infantry Regt. chapel at Fort
Bragg. Capt. A . J. McClure,
chaplain, officiated.
The chapel was decorated with
arrangements of white chrysan
themums, fern, and palms.
Before the service Sgt. Christ
mas, organist of the chapel, play
ed "I Love You Truly," "Always"
and "O Promise Me." The wed
ding irarch from "Lohengrin"
was used for the processional and
Mendelshon's march for the re
cessional. The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
pink two piece wool suit with
bl;irk accessories and a shoul
der corsage of white rosebuds.
She had as her maid of honor,
Miss Elsie McNeill of Raeford.
Miss McNeill wore a light blue
crepe dress with black accesso
ries and a shouder corsage of
yellow rosebuds. Ushers were
A. J. and William Freeman,
brothers of the bride.
Mrs. Fippinger was graduated
from Hoke High school and since
that time has held a position
at Fort Bragg.
After the wedding an infor
mal cake cutting was given by
the bride's parents. The couple
are making their home in Rae

Miss Sara Blue entertained the
"Eight" bridge club on Tuesday
evening of last week. Several
progressions of bridge were play
ed with high score for the men
going to Murdoch McDuffie, and
high score for the ladies going
to Miss Mary Blue.

Miss Elizabeth Blue of Parkton,
Walter Britt of Clinton, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Keith of Luvber
