The members hope to have this work finished within the next two weeks. Benny McFadyen came come home Friday afternoon after spending the past 30 days in a hospital. Mrs. Roy Oestriech and son, Wayne, and Miss Eiva McGougan saw the Santa Clans parade in Fayetteville Friday afternoon. Jimmy, small son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Jones, was quite sick last week, but is much better now. Mrs. S. P. Trawick and Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Traywick were Red Springs shoppers Friday. The Home Demonstration club of Arabia met in the home of Mrs. J. A. Jones last Tuesday. New officers were elected for the new year: Mrs. Ruth Bris tow, president; Mrs. Edna Ellis, vice president and Mrs. Stanley Crawley, secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Effie Chavis is improved after being confined to her bed for the past several months. Pome Agents Narrative Report For November Thirteen Hone Demonstration clubs met in Hoke County in November. These were attend ed by one hundred and thirty four club members. The dem onstration "Christmas Gifts from the Farm" was given by leaders in ten clubs, and by the agent at three club meetings. Special emphasis was given to making braided and hooked rugs. The horre agent attended the annual meeting of the Lumbee River Electric Membership Cor poration which was held at the courthouse in Raeford. Mr. Flake Shaw, of Greensboro, was the speaker. She was also a guest at the Board of Directors' luncheon immediately following the meeting. Assistance was given in ser ving a barbecue dinner to the employees of the AAA office, the County AAA Committeemen, the e rpluyees of the Agricultural Agencies, and a nmuber of in vited guests from Raleigh and the county. The dinner was given by Mr. Carl Bunn, field representative with AAA, who honored the local AAA employees for selling more lime than any other county in the district. The Annual Home Demonstra tion Day Program was held on the afternoon of November 7. Reports of club activities were given, and Rev. Thomas Fry, of Red Springs, spoke on "Better Homes Make A Better World." After the progra.r., refreshments were served by a group of 4-H club girls. The refreshments were prepared by a class of Hoke High school home economics girls under the direction of Mrs. Mar garet McGougan, home economics teacher. Sixty eight club women and seven visitors attended. November 10-16 was spent in Raleigh at the Annual conference for Agricultural Extension wor kers. Mrs. Frank McGregor, and the home agent spent November 25 in Southern Pines where they attended a mating in the in terest of establishing rural in dustries in North Carolina. Annual statistical and narra tive reports were compiled at the end of Noverber. Five 4-H clubs met with two hundred and fifty two in at tendance. Josephine Hall, Home Demonstration Agent. ASHLEY HEIGHTS NEWS By Mrs. Ralph Cothran MARTIN-THOMPON Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Thompson announce the marriage of their daughter, Runell Thompson of Aberdeen to James Chalmer Martin of the U. S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Martin on November 17, at the Baptist par sonage in Raeford. They plan to make their home in Lakehurst, N. J., where he is stationed. Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Primm of near Cothran spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Taft Har-dister. Miss Kathleen Cothran who is a student at Raleigh spent the Thanksgiving holidays at home. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Cothran. Mr. and Mrs. R. Fish are visi ting their daughter, Mrs. L. R. Cothran. Little Leroy Bowling, who is a patient at Moore County hos pital, will soon come home. He is a first grade student at Ashe iront school. Mrs. W. H. Hare, Mrs. E. J. Greene and Mrs. Ralph Cothran and daughter, Barbara, spent Monday in Fayetteville shopping. Mr. and Mrs. E. King had as their guests Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Adams of Wagram, Miss Marie Gooch of Stems, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Fartal of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Mize of Red Springs, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Campbell and Mr. Mrs. J. W. King and family.
